Achievement Pay Of 4-H Clubs Is Held Halite Club House Named ____ The Halifax County 4-H Achieve ment Day program was held or Saturday, November 26, at the Hal ifax Club House. Eighty-five 4-H Club members parents, leaders, and interested friends gathered to help celebrate the closing of th 4-H year's work. The meeting was presided over by Theodore Kay, president of the 4-H County council, who gave the address of welcome. Amost interesting part of the program was the illustrated lecture given by Mrs. W. M. Parham of the Tillery Home Demonstration Club. Mrs. Parham has tr.-.ve cd extensively in South Africa, and she told club members what form their project work would have tc take should they live in that part of the world. Winners among the boys were: Swine—Theodore Ray, first; As-h ley Pittman, second; Vdton Ray, third. Corn—Theodore Ray, first; James Hockaday, second. Peanuts —J. D. Hines, first; Bill Hux, sec ond; Earle Hardee, third. Dairj calf—Billy Neville. Poultry—Ed win McCrutcheon, first; Jact Wood, second; Bobby Bounds, third Baby beef—T. A. Madron, first; R W. Davis, sec-oiid; Everette Davis third. Barley and soybeans—Let Garner. Handicrafts—H e r m a r Pair, first; Jethro Harrell, second Joseph Exum. third. Forestry Calvin Boseman. The team was coached b; Mrs. Estel E. Leggett, and thos present were given many point that good Americans could prae tice at patriotic meetings. At th end the team gave a summary o the traits of Good Americans which are: self-control, kindness trying to gain and keep gooi health, fair play, self-reliance, do ir»g duty, reliablesness, truthful ness, trying to do the right thin; in the right way, working in co operation, loyalty. At the close o the team demonstration, the salut to the flag was given. $Irs. J. B. Ball of the Tiller Home Demonstration Club wa gtMg leader, Miss Mildred Parke of Hobgood Home Demonstratio Club was pianist, and Mrs. Matti AflHerson Bishop, county 4-H Clu loader, presented the awards. A-C Chib The A-C Club members and sev I eral additional guests enjoyed the j delightful hospitality of Mrs. John Lupton on Thursday afternoon at her home in Chaloner Park. Twelve players made up the three tables, and when the scores were added Mrs. Lyle Wilson was found to hold high and was presented a prize. Fall flowers were used with lovely effect throughout the house. For refreshments, a delicious salad plate was enjoyed. Mrs. Lupton’s guests included: Mesdames Don Tillar, W .C. Williams, W. G. Cher ry, Jr., Howerton Gowen, Pendle ton Grizzard, Wijliam Thorne, Na tham Frank, William Medlin, Frank Kemp, John Dunn, Julian Allsbrook and Lyle Wilson. Monday Bridge A meeting of the Monday Night Bridge Club was enjoyed as the guests of Mrs. J. E. McGee. Five progressions were played, after which the scores were added and Mrs. Howard Pruden was found to hold the highest score and was presented the prize. A salad plate was enjoyed. Bowls of fall flowers made a pretty background for the three tables of players. Those enjoying Mrs. McGee’s hos pitality were: Mesdames Howard Pruden, Allen Zollicoffer, Frank Hawley, Julian Allsbrook, Ned Ma.nning, Carroll Wilson, Scott Benton, H. S. Boy, Miss Elizabeth Bagley, Miss Elizabeth Griffith, Miss Ruth Transou and Miss E lizabeth Clark.
