Three Local Nurses To Do Army Duty Miss Ella Mae Lassiter, a mem ber of the nursing staff at Roa noke Rapids hospital, has accepted a commission as a second lieuten ant in the Army Medical Corps, Nursing Division, and will report for duty on April 1, it was an nounced at the hospital yesterday. I Miss Lassiter graduated from the hospital nursing school last Sep tember and has been on the staff since that time. She is a native of Lasker, N. C. It was also announced that Miss Dorothy Drake, also a member of the staff at the hospital, who ac- * cepted a commission early last month, will report for duty on A pril 1. Miss Pearl Howell, who resigned from the staff of the hospital some time ago to accept a commission in the Arm corps, has been as signed to duty at the huge post hospital at Fort Bragg as a sec ond lieutenant. id'lT— . “1* . Bill Bobbitt of Roanoke Rapids was at his home here for the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Newsom of Roanoke Rapids were the guests of Mrs. H. L. Faucette and Mrs. Ma mie Glasgow Sunday afternoon. Friends of Mrs. Sidney Walker, who has been sick at her home near Littleton, are glad to know that she is improving. Misses Mary Emma Walker and Allyn Faucette spent Wednesday in Roanoke Raplda Ruby Morris spent the week-end in the home of Mrs. E. S. Jenkins. Mrs. Turner Threewitts was the guest of Mrs. H. L. Faucette Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Paul Etheridge and son. Mrs. E. L Moseley and son, and Miss Virginia King of Roanoke Rapids spent Sunday with Mrs. Frank King. Friends of Mrs. Richard Harper, who is on the sick list, hope for her a speedy recovery. Mrs. C. E. Jenkins and Mrs. B. C. Jenkins are able to be up after being sick with colds. Mrs. G. L.
