Rev. Thomas E. Morton, pastor of the First Christian Church of Char lotte, will preach the annual ser mon. Dr. Franklin McNutt, head of the department of education at Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina, will give the annual commencement address in the high school auditorium on Thursday night at 8 o’clock. BEGIN CLOSING JUNE 3 A majority of stores in the city next Wednesday will begin their annual half-day per week closing period of June, July and August, Miss Jennie Walton, secretary of the Merchants Association, said today. The stores will close at 1 o’clock each Wednesday during the three hot summer months in order to give employes a half holiday for added recreation. This is an annual custom on the part of local stores and is voted upon each year by members of the Association.
