I I mi HI iVi 1 ^HHELliilHI 1IIHI H1IIIN CAROL BRUCE & RITZ BROS. AT IMPERIAL Bette Davis, Olivia De Havilland and George Brent combine their talents to make “In This Our Life” one of the most memorable and enjoyable pictures of the year, and it will be brought back to the Imperial for a second showing in the city on Sunday of next week. “Wake Island,” of which you will read more about on the op posite page, occupies the screen of the popular uptown house for Monday-Tuesday of next week. ****** “That Other Woman,” which provides the Wedensday-only, “bargain day” attraction on next week’s Imperial program, has lit tle if any distinction in a routine production of a romance between a secretary and her architect play boy boss. Virginia Gilmore is the secretary, and James Ellison the boss. Miss Gilmore, wooed by Dan Duryea, a Southern gentleman, finds her employer's attentions to other women annoying. Capable, she tries to help him with his work and is finally induced by her grandmother (Alma Kruger) to send him annonymous love letters. He is attracted by them but complications follow when she adds a touch of adventure to them . by stating that her lover threatens to kill him. To complete some work they go unchaperoned to a hotel but Duryea enters the scene , by really going after Ellison. ****** | Carol Bruce and the Ritz Broth- , ers are featured names in the | production “Behind The Eight j Ball," which provides the week ■, end attraction on next week’s Im perial program, playing at the uptown house on Thursday and ( Friday. We have few advance no- | tices on the film, due to its new- ] ness, but it is said that the inimit- i able comic team of Ritz Brothers < come in for their usual share of , tom-foolery, and it should provide ' moving-picture fans a welcome re- : lief from some of the pictures ] about war and sabotage. < * * * * * * j Gene Autry is the star of “Call of the Canyon” for the Saturday only outdoor “western” film next l week at the Imperial.
