LIONS NET $4,000.00 PROFIT FESTIVAL IS BIG SUCCESS FINANCIALLY Almost Double Amount Of Profit Shown In Other Years 0 At their last meeting, held Wed nesday evening of last week, mem bers of the Roanoke Rapids Lions Club heard their president, Dot Bennett, who also served as chair m&n of the festival committee this year, report that over $4,000.00 in net profits was realized from this year’s staging of their annual “Mid-Summer Festival.” This a mount represented a gain of al iw>st double that of any previous tdstival, and members of the lo cal club were highly elated over the profits of the venture. In making his report, President Bennett expressed his appreciation t" all club members, as well as members of other civic clubs of the city, and the community as a whole in combining their efforts to make this year’s festival the biggest yet. At last Wednesday night’s meet ing, visitors of the club were pre sented by Joe Talley. The list in cluded: Mrs. Helen Bashay of New York (Ay and Betty Winbourn of A hoski. Mrs. Bashay is a member of the N. C. State Commission for the blind, having filled that po sition since June 28. She has been blind since the age of 13 and now r#is a Seeing Eye Dog. She made a most interesting talk regarding her work around Roanoke Rapids Lion Kennemur presented the program for the night: which in cjpded talks by Lt., Frank P. Cas slday and Lt. Gil Crouch of the local Armory. Their talks held the attention of every Lion pres ent. Dan Cagle and Thornton Wil s^jjj were welcomed into the Club.
