AUX. POLICE GIVE DINNER The Roanoke Rapids Auxiliary Police, of which W. A. Thorne is captain, recently gave a barbecue and chicken dinner in the new Ever-Ready building at Second and Jackson streets. Honor guests at the dinner were the wives of the members of the organization. When the auxiliary police was first organized it had about 8 members, but due to the war this membership has decreased to about 31, all of which are active The organization has at various times raised money by giving dances and other entertainment all of which has been contributed to the Boy and Girl Scouts an the Red Cross. Teen Canteen Meets Monday A meeting of all members of the Teen Canteen will be held Monday evening at 8 o’clock at 1032 Roanoke Avenue. All members are urged to be present. Pearson and son, James, spent the Fourth in Conway with friends. Mrs. Morris Clary has returned from a visit with relatives in Fountain. Her husband, Morris S. Clary, joined her there for the week-end. Mrs. J. E. Smith has returned to Raliegh after a visit here. Misses Mary Louise Ray and Doris Harrison are spending thf week at White Lake. Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Sledge and daughter, Christine, of Greens boro, spent the week with friends and relatives here last week, week. Miss Mildred T. Jenkins, of Nor lina, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Jenkins. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rook and son, Earl, Jr., are spending the week at Virginia Beach. Mrs. J. C. Wells and Mrs. John Kennemur spent last week at Vir ginia Beach.
