Buys Interest In Beauty Shop Announcement is made today that Mrs. Louise Mullis Dickens, formerly with the Sir Walter Hotel Beauty Shoppe in Raleigh, has purchased an interest in The Frances Beauty Shoppe, owned and operated at 236 Roanoke Ave nue, by Miss Beaunie Holliday. Mrs. Dickens’ addition to the business will greatly augment ser vices to patrons. The formation of the partnership became effective | last Monday. Old and new cus ' tomers are invited by Mrs. Dick ens, a former resident of Roanoke j Rapids, to visit her. Vistirg Home For Ten Days Pvt. Clarence Wynn, stationed at Camp Grant, 111., is spending a 10-day leave with his sister, Mrs. Pearl Nowell, of Weldon, and his wife, the former Mi«s Gretha Smiley, of Roanoke Rapids. Pvt. John A. Glover, of Camp Campbell, Ky., is spending a 14 day furlough with his wife. LETTERS Friday, Aug. 28, 1944 Dear Carroll: Hope this finds you well and I send you my appreciation for be ing so nice to me in printing my thanks of kindness to the people of Halifax County. I know each and every family back there has boys in the service, and know what a great job they are doing for their country and yours. I would like for you to put in The Herald that I thank Mr. and Mrs. Hranch O. Clay for being so nice o me on my visit with them, and my wife and son, I really had a grand time. They live on RFD No. I, Halifax, N. C. That was my first visit from overseas for over a year. I have been in more than seven major actions, in recogni tion of which I wear a silver star and two bronze medals. Mr. Wilson, I have been in the service about two years. I hope t can be able to come to see you after the war, and tell you of my adventures. I would like to say that I am getting the Herald regularly, thanks very much. I would be glad for you to print this in the Herald. I have been around the world twice and still going strong, but I pray for the time we all can return to our homes. Yours truly, a friend, Ray D. It is a 5 months course leading to an F C. C. license and a commission in the Maritime Service as Warrant Radio-Electrician.
