Friday December 7—3.15 p. m., Troop 13 at the Girl Scout Hut; ™ Troon 14 at the Clara Heame School. Troop 1G Visits Sandlin’s Florist: Last Friday afternoon, Mrs. W. H Proctor, Troop Committee mem ber, took Brownie Troop 16 on a short hike to Sandlins Floiist Mrs. Lloyd Sandlin very carefully explained the growth and care o. hothouse plants. After showing the Brownies the entire shop Mrs Sandlin presented a dahlia bulb t each Scout and explained how to set it out and to care for it. If the Brownies follow instruc tions carefully, they may grow dahlias as beautiful as the ones in the window display Girl Scout Week. Troop 15 Takes Fruit To Negro Ward: Troop 15 had a Thanksgiving Dance to collect fruit for shut ins. Troop members and guests piled fruit in a huge cornucopia which had been constructed from brown paper, paste, and a tal vegetable crate by Mrs. Kennedy and Troop 6. At the troop meeting Monday, the newest patrol decorated a box, filled it with fruit and delivered it to the Negro Ward at the Roa noke Rapids Hospital. Scouts Help Decorate Stage: Pasty Moore, of Troop 4; Jackie Williams and Patricia Wilson, of Troop 6, helped decorate the stage for the joint Thanksgiving Pro gram at the High School Auditor ium. Troop 6 Has 100 Percent Attendance/ All members of Troop 6 were present Monday night to receive the new Girl Scout Calendar. Neal Allsbrook, Peggy Kidd, and Jackie Williams were chosen to sell cal endars at the Rosemary Branch of the Roanoke Bank and Trust Company, Saturday, December 1, from 9:00 a. m., until 12:00 noon. Caroline Broun was appointed chairman of the decorating com mittee for the Christmas party, with Mary Francis Allsbrook, Mil dred Dickens and Ann Grizzard assisting. Troop 11 Making Coin Purses: From old hats, beads and bits of wool, Troop 11 plans to make attractive coin purses like the one Ann Smith made and showed the troop Tuesday afternoon. Charlotte Davis and Patricia Johnson were hostesses. Brownie Scouts Receive Equipment: Brownies of Troop 16 are the proud owners of crayons, rulers, and boxes for their equipment chich Mr. W. H. Proctor present ed them. Leggett’s also gave them three dozen boxes for equipment. Troop 12 Finds Treasure Chest: Mrs. W. A. Thorne had a large wooden box with a lid which she promised Troop 12 when they ar ranged their troop room at Central School. Troop 4, just beginning Senior Service training, ripped off the covering, painted the box green to match the benches, and notified Mrs. B. Brown that it was ready to be moved to Central School. Brown cardboard boxes for indi vidual equipment were given by Mr. Jack Weissner. Calendar Sale Begins: There is a great demand for the new Girl Scout Calendar. The pic ture shows a Brownie Scout and an Intermediate Scout admiring Mrs. Low’s portrait. When the month of December 1945 comes to a,n end, cut out the portrait of Mrs. Low, leaving the frame. Then as you turn up each calendar page a new portrait will take its place in the frame. It will make the cal endar a lot more fun and the twelve memorable women will be an inspiration throughout the year. iflk The calendar cost twenty-five cents.
