HEWS FROM UTTLETOH | t — J,M CLUB REPORT: The Junior 4-H Club of Little ton met November 8. The presi dent called the meeting to order. Miss Barbara led in the 4-H club pledge. The club sang “America. Homeward Bound” and “Hello” led by Miss Barbara. Since the secre tary was absent the minutes of the last meeting were not read. Miss Barbara announced the 4-H Achi evement Day at Warrenton for the last time and insisted on everyone going. The president asked for old and new business. The Seventh Grade Girls gave a program in which they served a lunch. Bobby Brown talked about Camp Mile stone, where they went last sum mer. The girls assembled in the eighth grade loom where Miss Barbara gave them a demonstra tion on “Vegetables and How to Prepare Them.” The meeting was adjourned to meet again Decem ber 6. PRAYER SERVICE TO BE HELD: The Ladies’ Community Prayer Service will be held at the home of Mrs. Charles Lambeth Friday oft-orn iwn MARRIAGE ANNOUNCED: Mr and Mrs. Raymond Rhodes Rodvvell, of Warrenton, announce the marriage of their daughter, Elizabeth Watson, to Erasmus Als ton Daniel on Thursday, Novem ber 22, in Warrenton. The bride is p, member of the Littleton High School faculty where she has been teaching for some years. The groom is the son of Graham Dan iel and the late Mrs. Daniel. Mrs A. P. Farmer left last Thursday and spent several days in Baltimore, Md., and Norfolk, Va. Mrs. W. T. Threewitts and Mrs. James Abbot Threetwitts spent last Tuesday shopping in Rich mond. Miss Allison Newsome, of Roa noke Rapids, spent the week-end at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Newsome. A. C. Hedgepeth of Henderson was in town Monday. Mrs. Sue Nelson and Mrs. George Ragland spent Thanksgiving Day with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Watson in Henderson. Mr. and Mrs. William Nelson went on to Durham, where they attended the Duke-Carolina Game. Mrs. Jack Watson of Henderson, Mrs. George Ragland, and Lt. Ben Browning shopped in Rich mond, Tuesday. Lt. Ben- Browing will probably be transferred from Patuxent Riv er, Md„ to Olathae, Kans., early in the new year. Mrs. Pappendick Is Hostess To Her Club Mrs. George Pappendick was hostess to the Tuesday Night Club at her home on Monroe Street Tuesday evening with three tables of bridge. The home was attractive with evergreens and fall flowers. A number of interesting progres sions were played before scores were collected and Mrs. A. O. George was found to hold high score and Mrs. Beamon Helms held second. They were presented lovely prizes. At ten-thirty a sal ad plate with coffee was enjoyed. Guests were: Mesdames G. S. Bunn, Jimmie Currin, Beanom Helms, A. L. Gilliam, A. O. George, H. C. Wirtz, M. F. White, J. A. IWood, Paul Overton, Earl Rook, W G. Collier and Miss Edna Waf forcl. Towrs Talk Mrs. L. E. Murdoch., Jr., and daughter, Sharon Colleene, of Nor. folk, are visiting Mrs. Murdoch’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Deb li am. J. F. Welch attended a series of lectures given last week in Chapel Hill by expert accountants on the subject of income taxes. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Liles and children, Harry Gibson and Doris Selene, of Norfolk, spent the week end in the city with relatives and friends. Miss Annie Tucker Moore, a teacher on the Franklington fac ulty, spent the Thanksgiving Holi days at the home of her sister, Mrs. Harold Smith. Edward Hall of the Navy, spent the week-end in town with Mrs. Hall. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Benton spent Sunday in Henderson. Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Hale, Jr., spent Sunday in Rocky Mount. Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Sanderson of Kinston, were in town Sunday. Miss Beulah Mae Atkins, a stu dent nurse in Roanoke Rapids Hos pital, spent Sunday at the home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Simms, of Raleigh, were week-end guests of Rev. and Mrs. Albert E. Simms. Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Spell and little daughter, Catherine, spent Sunday with Mrs. H. Reid Miller. Mrs. Meade Mitohell of Weldon, have been guests of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Miitchel. Mrs. Horace Palmer and Mrs Norman Mitchell spent Saturday afternoon in Warrenton. Miss Emma Bonney of Raleigh spent the week-end at the home of her father, H. F. Bonney. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Stokes went to Warrenton, Friday. Mr. and Mrs. William Nelson and little daughter of Norfolk, Va., yere guests of Mrs. Sue Nelson during the Thanksgiving holidays. ——— -izirz Mrs. L. B. Allen Entertains Club Mrs. L. B. Carr, TME3/C, arrived last Thursday night to spend a 30-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Carr, at 420 Ham ilton Street. Jim has just returned to the States after spending 21 months in the South Pacific, where he served as torpedoman-electri- » cian at land bases after seeing * action aboard a submarine. He wears the American Theatre, Asia tic-Pacific and Victory ribbons, and Combat Fin. Womens Society Present Study The Women’s Society for Chris tian Service of the Rosemary * Methodist Church will present * their mission study “The Cross Over Africa’’ at 7:00 P. M., Dec. ember 9. Rev. W. R. Stevens will be in charge of the service and Mrs. W. R. Stevens, Miss Joyce Brown and Miss Henrietta Price will be the speakers.
