DEATHS BENNIE M. SMITH Bennie M. Smith, age 31, died Monday, January 28, at his home on Cedar Street, where he had lived for the past six years. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, January 30, at 2:30 in the Rosemary Bapt ist Church, by Rev. B. M. White hurst, pastor of the Rosemary Baptist Church and Rev. A. E. Simms, pastor of the Bear Swamp Baptist Churcn, Littleton, N. C. Surviving are his wife, Leana Williams Smith of Roanoke Rap ids; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Smith of Enfield; six broth ers, Jack Smith, Enfield; Wood row Smith, Plymouth, N. C.; Isaac Jr., and Nelson Smith of Little ton and Herbert and Curtis Smith of Enfield; and one sister, Mrs. I. M. Lewis, Jr., of Enfield. The palhbearers, friends of the deceased, were Russell Birdsong, Casper Lewis, Otha Hudson, Lest er (Jutland, James Mooney, John King, Wiley Connell and Graham Pulley. The flower girls, were Janie Rae Bridges, Margaret Denton, Sadie Hopkins, Fannie Cox, Blanche Davenport, Elizabeth Green, Mar garet Birdsong and Louis Hop kins. HILLSON HOMER JONES Hillson Homer Jones, 36, died Friday morning in the Roanoke Rapids Hospital after an illness of several months. Funeral ser vices were conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the W. C. Williams Funeral Home fcy Rev. B. Marshall Whitehurst and Rev. Gordon Price. Burial fol lowed in Cedarwood Cemetery. Mr. Jones was a graduate of the local high school and he attended Benjamin Franklin University in Washington, D. C. Survivors are his mother; four sisters, Mrs. M. H. Hedgepeth, Mrs. Lena Rives Ray, both of this city, Mrs. E. M. Bigood of Portsmouth and Mrs. Jesse Grant of Emporia; one brother, S. B. Jones of Sanford. Pallbearers at the funeral were: C. C. Shell, Howerton Gowen, W. L. Medlin, W. G. Bunch, C. D. Liske, C. C. Cannon. Flower girls were Misses Minnie Johnson, Lois Lyles, Clyde Fulghum, Sarah Cox, Mrs. C. C. Shell and Mrs. Tom White. MRS. D. E. MOORE Mrs. D. E. Moore, 69, died at her home, 610 Washington Street, Monday night after a short ill ness. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at four o’ clock from the Roanoke Rapids Methodist Chu:ch by Rev. L. A. Tilley. Survivors were: her husband. Doc Moore; four daughters, Josie Moore, Mrs. Agatha Miller and Mrs’. S. S. Hutchinson of Roa noke Rapids and Mrs. L. L. Pit lard of Charlotte; two sons, W. I.. Moore and Frank E.
