The public is cordially invited to attend our services and visit our Reading Room. Subject Sunday: "Doctrine of Atonement.” CHRISTIAN SCIENCE SERVICE “ARE SIN, DISEASE AND DEATH REAL?" was the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in all Christian Science Churches and Societies on Sunday, April 14. The Golden Text was from Paslms 43; 5. "Why art thou cast down, O my sool? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I 3hall yet praise him, who is the health of my count enance and my God.” Among the citations comprising the Lesson-Sermon were the fol lowing from the Bible: “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers di seasc and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, end those which were lunitick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.” (Matt; 4: 23,24). The Lesson-Sermon also in cluded the following passages from the Christian Science text book, ‘‘Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy: “If sin, sickness, and death are as real as Life, Truth, and Love, then they must all be from the same source; God must be their author. Now Jesus came to. destroy sin, aickness, and death; yet the Scriptures aver, ‘I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. Is it possible, then, to believe that the evils which Jesus lived to destroy are real or the offspring of the devine will” (Page 474) ?
