McGill Will
Show Here
Friday Night
Ormand McGill, scientific hypno
tist appearing on the stage of
the Roanoke Rapids High School
Friday night, was the first to
hypnotise over NBC and CBS
networks.
Professor McGill, who was tech
nical director of the Monogram
production, “The Strange Case of
Mr. Gregory”, uses his entertain
ing program to help dispel the
shroud of supersition and disbelief
that surrounds the science of
hypnotism. During his show, m
which he uses volunteers from
the audience, he lectures on the
secrets of hypnosis, seance cham
bers, clairvoyance and otner
mystic phenomena of the mind.
He offers sleight-of-hand, de
monstrations in mind-reading,
clairvoyance and hypnosis. 1
subjects from the audience will
have illusions of being intoxicated
on a glass of water, they will
been put into a deep, rela*“g
sleep in a demonstration of sug
gestive somnambulism and hal
lucinations will he induced caus
ing the volunteers to see things
that do not actually exist, hut to
which they will act with tremen
dous reactions.
McGill is unique in that along
•with his academic knowledge of
psychology (he is a consulting
psychoTogist with a large Holly
wood practice), he is a profess
ional magician, and thus brings
to his hypnotic demonstrations a
sense or showmanship. Conversely,
his wealth of research in the
field of hypnosis produces an
understanding of the phenomena
that is far reaching in assuring
jiis audiences the peak in hypnotic
exhibitions.
