BE IT ORDAINED by the Board
of Commissioners of the City of
Roanoke Rapids.
Section 1. That the City of Roa
noke Rapids issue its bonds, pur
suant to the Municipal Finance
Act. 1921, as amended, in an
amount not exceeding $40,000 for
the purpose of improving land,
now owned by the City, for ceme
tery purposes.
Section 2. That a tax sufficient
to pay the principal and interest
of said bonds shall be annually
levied and collected.
Section 3. That a statement of
the debt of the City has been filed
with the clerk and is open to pub
lic inspection.
Section 4. That this ordinance
shall take effect when approved by
the voters of the City at an elec
tion as provided by law.
The foregoing ordinance was
passed on the 9th. day of Sept
ember, 1946 and was first publish
ed on the 12th. day of September,
1946.
Any action or proceeding ques
tioning the validity of said ordi
nance must be commenced within
thirty days after its first publi
cation.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL BOND
ELECTION AND SUPPLEMENT
AL REGISTRATION IN THE
CITY OF ROANOKE RAPIDS,
NORTH CAROLINA.
A special bond election will be
held between 6:30 A. M. and 6:30
P. M., Eastern Standard Time,
Tuesday, October 15, 1946, at which
there will be submitted to the
qualified voters of the City of
Roanoke Rapids, the following
question: -

September 9, 1946, authorizing
not exceeding $40,000 bonds of
the City of Roanoke Rapids for
the purpose of improving land,,
now owned by the City, for
cemetery purposes, and a tax
for said bonds, be approved?
The question hereinabove set
forth contains a statement of the
purpose for which the bonds are
authorized by the ordinance re
ferred to in such question.
If said bonds art issued a tax
will be levied for the payment of
the principal and interest there
of on all taxable property in the
City of Roanoke Rapids. The reg
ular registration books for elec
tion in said City shall be used
and such books shall be open for
the registration of voters, not
theretofore registered, from 9:00
A. M. until Sunset each day, ex
cept Sundays and holidays, begin
ning Saturday, September 21, 1946,
and closing Saturday, October 5,
1946. On each Saturday during
said period said books shall re
main open at the polling places.
Saturday, October 12, 1946, shall
be Challenge Day.
The polling places and the names
of the election officers,, subject to
change as provided by law, are
as follows:
