Junior High News BY VANCE COLLINS ^ifence again we’re going to school and for nine more months we will be hearing more and newer things about our subjects. Last week was a hurry week in school. Meeting your new teacher, paying for your books, and going I through schedule were all on the list. This week things are begin ning to settle down and every body is beginning to work. This year there are 486 pupils H(^be taught in Junior High and to teach them there are several new teachers. They are Miss Ka therine Dunley, vocal music; Mrs. Betty Godwin, English; Mrs. Ethel Mickey, history; Miss Mary Cur rin, science; Dan Cagle, Mathema tics and jupior football team. One of the new things in Junior High is a junior football team and this is coached by Mr. Cagle. TJjere were 54 candidates during the first week of practice and the practices consisted principally of calisthenics and running to get the body in shape. Coach Cagle hopes to have a six-game schedule lined up for that team this year—three out of town and three home games. The officers of the Junior High Council for this year are: Charles Hasty, President; Swain Loy, Vice mpsident; Margaret Clary, Secre tary; Geneva Brown, Treasurer and Vance Collins^ Reporter. These officers were elected last May instead of the first school month, because of a change in the Constitution. Miss Irish Davis is the advisor of this body and has been for the last two years. We have her to thank for most of the Council’s success. WELDON NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Marion Zollicoffer and son have returned to Balti more. Md., after a visit to Mrs. M. S.
