L. Starke, 701 Henry St. Kennedy - Harbour Mrs. Jule M. Kennedy of St. Peters, Minn., announces the en gagement of her daughter, Delois Mary, to Lt. Clarence Harbour, son of Dr. and Mrs. E. D. Har bour, 1107 Hamilton Street, Roa noke Rapids. The wedding will take place May 17 at St. Mary’s Church, St. Peters, Minn. After the wedding they will return to Alameda, Cal., where Lt. Harbour ir stationed at present. Dr. and Mrs. Harbour will leave next week to attend the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Ned Hyman of Greensboro announce the birth of a son, Robert Lee, April 25. and take notice. The Romiancos will be somewhat stronger this year than the team that lost to Greensboro in the state finals last year. In addition to all the regulars back from last year’s team they have sign ed Hank Stewart, pre-war star catcher and ‘‘Ace’’ Carlisle, who stated the season here last year. With big Russ Deberry, "Ace” Carlisle, and Frank Everette, the Romancos boasts one of the best hulling corps In the State. Red Devils Capture 2-1 Win Over Yellow Jackets Kinston’s Red Devils gave firm notice of their bid for North eastern Conference honors Tuesday night by scoring a 2-1 w^n over Roanoke Rapids. The loss was the Jackets third as compared with six victories, and sent them down to third place in loop standings. The Red DeViIs produced their winning runs in the seventh. SUSAN CHERRY1 Mrs. Susan Isobelle Cherry, 88, died Friday, April 25, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Payijie, Lorton, Va. Funeral services were held Sunday arternoon from tthe Crews and Clayton Funeral Home in Ashford, Va. Burial was in the Woodland Cemetery. Surviv ing are one daughter, Mrs. Mary Payne of Lorton, Va., two sons, Orman E. Cherry of Draper, WaJter Cherry of Washington, D. C., two step daughters, Mrs. Harry Klugel of Emporia, Va., and Mrs. | Viola Waller of Miami Beach, Florida, nine grandchildren and six great grand children. Mrs. Cherry will be remembered here by many friends as she made her home here for years. MARVIN D. PULLEY Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p. m. for Marvin Duke Pulley, 32, who died sudden ly at his home near Roanoke Rap ids last Monday. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Arlene Smith Pulley, and one daughter, Janice Kay Pulley; his mother, Mrs. Liz zie Richie,, and his step father, C. E. Riohie; five sisters, Mrs. E. E. Rayburn, Mrs. Clarence Robert, son and Mrs. Russell Gale, all of Washington ,D C., Mrs. William Griffin, of Richmond, Va., and Miss Mamie K. Pulley, of th * home; four brothers, Dan F. Pu - ley, Lindsey Pulley, Luke Pulley and Sergeant Sam Pulley who is in Germany. The services will be from Weav er’s Chapel Methodist Church, with Rev. E. H. Measamer of Littleton in charge, with interment follow ing in the church cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Little and son, Cameron, Mrs. W. H. Ticket and Zan Cameron spent Sunday in Greenville with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Greene.
