Terraces and drainage ditches will be constructed this winter. 5,950 kudzu plants have been allotted to Halifax County. These plants have been shipped and will be planted this spring. J. N. I /> pounds round steak I (1-inch thick) slices bacon (or bacon I tteaspoon salt teaspoon pepper V4 cups boiling water I tablespoons catsup j 4 teaspoon prepared i mustard | L sliced peeled small onion Pound as much flour as possible into both sides of beef with a mallet or edge of a saucer. Fry bacon un til crisp in a deep covered skillet (or beat about 3 ta blespoons shortening or bacon drippings). Then re move bacon and brown the | round steak on both sides (n the bacon fat. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Then combine boiling water, catsup and mustard and pour over beef. Add sliced onion, cover, and simmer about V/a hours or until tender. Remove meat to hot platter. Thicken gravy, using 2 tablespoons flour mixed with 3 tablespoons water for every cupful of liquid. Season to taste and pour over meat.
