Johnson of Scotland Neck as members 14,500 registered in Roanoke Rapids Township for War Ration Book No. 2. 10 YEARS AGO Feb. 24, 1938—Negro Claud Bowser, 22, charged with mur der of his sweetheart. Lizzie Bowser, 20, told Sheriff Joe Rid dick “I killed her because I loved her.” Among those on the high school honor roll were Thomas Shell, \lark Pulley. Kirk Taylor, Helen Daughtry. Jack Williams and Bynum Neal. Mrs. Alice B. Hudson, 61. died at her home in Weldon on Mon day, Feb. 21st. Miss Emily Joy ner was married to Allen Pierce in Garysburg, Wednesday, Feb. 23rd. 15 YEARS AGO Feb. 23, 1933—Several hun dred citizens from Roanoke Rapids were in Raleigh to at tend a hearing on Senate Bill No. 242, sponsored by State Sen ator Dr. T. W. M. Long, which would amend the city charter.
