MVSIC IN OUR HIGH SCHOOL in HAPPENINGS LEXINGTON - SALISBURY Lexington girls’ played Salisbury girls’ basketball team on Salisbury’s floor February 6. In this game Dickerson, center, and Burkhead, right guard, were the stars. This was a quick and snappy game with Lexington ahead all the time. The final score was 27 to 12. Mildred Conrad, ’22 Music is a success in the Lexington High School. Glee Clubs have been organized, composed of both boys and girls. These clubs have made prog ress with credit to themselves, as well as to their efficient leaders. Miss An nie Greenfield and Mr. LeFevre. They have, on various occausions, entertain ed the High School and the P. T. A. with classical, patriotic and popular songs. The entertainments have been so pleasing that they have been invit ed to render a musical program for the Rotarians in the near future. Another interesting and deserving feature of our music is the twelve- piece orchestra. It has made wonder ful progress under the direction of iSlr. LeFevre, who is very much inter ested in its success. Plans are under consideration for a concert to be given by the Glee Clubs and orche.stra in the early spring. It may be of interest to the parents to know that they are welcome to at tend the chape! exercises, at 9 a. m. on Mondays and Thursdays. Come and let us show you what our orches tra and glee clubs are doing. B’gosh! We won another! And Grant got a hair cut! The other day Miss L. Walker spoke to Bill Barr rather harshly because Bill tore up the Latin paper which she had assisted him in writing, in prefer ence to John Andrew’s. The question has arisen, “Who knows the most about Latin, John or Miss Lula?” “Do you know that bunch of sen iors is the worst I ever knew or heard about?” inquires a teacher of a moth er whose son is one of them. The Pli Basketball Team takes a trip this week, playing three games, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They play Leakesville, Burlington and Durham. They would like to have the prayers of the school and espec ially those of the girls. The Rotary Club entertained the Boy Scouts, Troop I, recently at a de lightful luncheon. The Scouts had 100% present, most of whom were from the high school. Scoutmaster Grissom says there’s action on deck, and—well, we know. Little Man. It is reported that the girls are about to enter the contest for basket ball championship of North Carolina. We believe we can be the champions of the South L. H. S. and LEXHIPEP are backing them. Say, did you ever notice those stu dents who have real school spirit? Among the boys is Jimmie Yow, who never misses a ball game and he certainly knows the game. Ask him and find out. Cliff Cross and Curry Lopp are very generous in the use of their cars. Lexington High School needs more like them. The girls’ basketbal team suddenly decided to take a trip last Tuesday, to Danville and Martinsville, Va. They were accompanied by their chaperon and coach, pro-temp. Miss Lula Wal ker, who was overjoyed to miss her senior Latin class. The new selected boys’ fraternal or der of L. tl. S. is begining to flourish. They have held several mid-night meetings around the stove in our ‘gym,’ and are going to elect officers and select a name at their next meet-
