November 26, 1947 THE LEXHIPEP Page 7 —Doug Craver Concord pulled one out of the hat last week to tie the “orange and blue” from Lexington 6-6, or rather the Jackets tied Concord. Since Lexington Hi received the Lions Bowl bid everyone has been af ter their scalp with the hopes of upsetting a bowl bound club. The Jackets proved one thing against Concord and that was that even though they were trailing in the last quarter that they could come back fighting and not quit as many clubs seem to do. Harold Carter, one of Lexington High’s very promising backs, has been out with a shoulder injury which he received in the Henderson game; how ever, Carter is only a sophomore and has two more years on the squad. Car ter hopes to be ready to play when the Jackets hit the Lions Bowl In Hickory. There have been several other in juries on the squad this year. “Stinky” Thomason received a head concussion which may end his football career. “Tubba” Craver is back on the play ing field after suffering a broken leg. Hugh “Monk” Mathis may be back after reeciving a neck injury and later an ankle injury; however, it is doubt ful that he will be well before the season closes. Several others received nose inju ries. They were; J. L. Peeler, Johnny Bivins, “Stinky” Gibson and Sam Ev erhart. “Horsie” Allen suffered a hip injury that laid him out for the rest of the year. Look's like a rough team, doesn’t it? L. H. S. students don’t seem to be making much noise at the football games, not as much as they are capa ble of, anyway. So when the team goes to Hickory, let’s hear a great big racket from Lexington student section. CITY DRUG CO.
