BREVARD PLANT MEDCALX "16. U. V Wil Of' fOTOFAX Vol. 9, No. 2 E. I. Du Pont De Nemours & Company, Inc., Brevard, N. C. June, 1976 DENSE RETIRES AS PLANT MANAGER Jack Dense retired as Plant Manager of the Brevard Plant on February 29, 1976. He has 38 years of service to the Du Pont Company. Just prior to his last day on the Plant, his many friends gave him a retirement party at the Hendersonville Country Club. Fellow workers from throughout the years gave him mementos to refresh his memory of bygone days and wished him well during his retirement. His career with Du Pont led him from the original Defender Photo Supply Com pany at Rochester, N. Y., acquired by Du Pont in 1945, to positions of increasing supervisory responsibility. He started as a wage roll operator with Defender in 1938. When Defender was bought by Du Pont in 1945, he had earned a BS Degree in Chemical Engineering at Clarkson College of Technology, Potsdam, N. Y. Starting as Engineering Supervisor with Du Pont, he went to Ass't. Plant Engineer, Plant Engineer (Rochester Plant) . . . Chief Supervisor, Production Sup't. (Parlin Plant) . . . Ass't. Plant Manager (Rochester Plant) . . . Plant Manager (Bre vard Plant) . . . Retirement (Glen Cannon Country Club & Golf Course). At home, shortly after retiring, Jack had the following comments. "I haven't had a chance yet to find out what retire ment really is. With all the activities, I don't feel I've even started to retire. I'm not having any difficulty finding things to do. I said to myself once I left the Plant, I'd start playing golf 3 times a week instead of just once. It's still just once a week."
