FOTOFAX BREVARD PLANT PHOTO PRODUCTS DEPARTMENT VOL. 13, NO. 2 MARCH, 1980 OVER 8,000,000 HOURS WORKED SAFELY i i I 1 r > Jk M. J On February 16, the Brevard Plant completed eight million hours of work without a lost time on-the-job injury. It is a remarkable accomplishment, and one in which we can all take pride. The record becomes more impressive when we recognize that it is built on the well being of every one of us. It is good to look back on so many injury-free days, but this achievement is now history. Each new day brings with it the challenge to continue working without injury. The conse quences of not doing so are extremely undesirable. Our company believes all injuries can be prevented. A record of this magnitude proves that the goal is attainable. I am very proud of our performance, but it would be an error to believe that this record has been accomplished solely by dedication and safe practice. The number of serious incidents during this time indicates that our record has been preserved, in part, only by good fortune. A safety slogan of some years ago stated: “Luck runs out—Safety is good for a lifetime.” The element of chance must be eliminated if we are to continue our fine record. Bear in mind that this record, built on working safely, can be terminated only by one of us suffering a serious injury. Janet Murr’s safety limerick expressed another thought this way: “Partly safe may bring you sorrow, but totally safe means a happy tomorrow.” Please do whatever you can to assure your safety and that of your fellow worker both today and in the days to follow.
