In a talk the subject of which was “The Mother, The • Daughter, The School,” Miss Killingsworth spoke of the splendid work which has been carried on this year by . the Girls’ Council. She ended by , expressing her appreciation for the co-operation of the Mothers with the teachers. Miss Edna Tyre fol lowed this with some advice to the girls. The program was supposed to end when the teachers, who were serving as witnesses, answered with a clever song the toast to themselves , by Louise Smith. However every one was enjoying her self so much that she could not take herself away, so the jollity was continued with, two impromptu toasts, one to Mrs. Comer by Virginia McClamroch, and the other to Miss Killings worth by Charlotte Van Noppen. At this point the toastmistress Newswriters’ Club has Successful Year (Continued from page 1) club to acquaint its members with methods used in publishing a news paper, taking for its special notice the High School Newspaper. As a climax to our study we offer this edition of High Life and feel sure that it has benefited because of our efforts. The work of this club is not terminated by the getting out of this edition of High Life, by any means. This group hopes to make a trip to one of the newspaper offices to see the actual publications of a daily newspaper, as one of the features of the program for the remainder of the year. One of our dearest friends, who has dropped in now and then to offer a little bit of his invaluable services whenever needed, is Mr. “Chawlie Gawge” Phillips. Friday evening the conference en joyed a most excellent address on “The Preparation of the Modern Language Teacher” by Dr. La Warr Benjamin Easter of Washington Uni versity, after which the Trinity col lege faculty gave a reception at the faculty club house. On Saturday Morning at the I'rench Department Session, Miss Coleman again won the interest and approval of all the French instruct ors present, when she very efficiently discussed “Extra-Class Activities in Teaching French.” In illustrating one point of her talk, she exhibited several French posters made by G. H. S.- boys and girls. The entire conference was especially interested in these splendid posters. This week Professors of Thinity College are using these posters in their classes to show the college students what excellent work in that line high school pupils, like Greensboro possesses, can produce.
