H. S. in back ing up the work of the teams is not what it should be, declared a G. H. S. ath lete the other day. It has been noticed on various occasions, he continued. At the football games the crowds were fair ly decent, although a good part of the spectators were townspeople and the student body was not represented as it should have been. Sometimes there were large crowds at the basketball games, and at other times it looked as if only the parents of the players attended. Quite a few times the squad started on a trip and did not have enough cars to carry them, although a large number of cars are to be seen parked in front of the school every day. And now comes baseball. It is a known fact that little or no money is made on mi—HH^—1111^—HH^—1111^—Hll—IIII—mi—1111^—Mil ^—Hli^—Hl«{# I TRAVEL BY BUS I Bus Terminal at O. Henry Hotel PHONE 3705 UNITED STAGE LINES, Inc. baseball in high schools. It seems that the town people get to see enough base ball elsewhere and do not support the high school team. Therefore it is up to the student body of G. H. S. to back up the team more than ever. Coach John son thinks we are going to have a good team this year. We have a good coach, and good material, and it is decidedly the duty of the students to go out and back up the team. They need it. CAPTAIN “UNC” HORNEY TO LEAD TRACK TEAM Parks, Aycock and Strickland Striving to Put Out Winning Team. BASEBALL TEAM HAS AMBITIOUS SCHEDULE Greensboro has one of the most ambi tious schedules in years, with good chances of winning the state champion ship. Twenty-three games are included, twelve games at home and ten abroad- The opening game was played with “Ponzi” Dorsett’s Wentworth team here Saturday, March 21. Winston-Salem and Oak Ridge will probably furnish the stiffest opposition. There are not as many boys out for track as were expected, and although the green material which has been furnished looks good, the coaches feel that it is not enough. Coaches Parks, Aycock and Strickland are driving the boys hard to put out a winning team. Success depends, to a great extent, however, upon the newly elected captain, “Unc” Homey. Athletes and coaches are quite confi dent that if the school spirit manifests itself and boosts the team, there is every reason to expect victory. If you were to take the conceit out of some people, the remains would defy identification. f{f ini—>.1111..^—IM. ■■■■ nil ■■■■ ■■■■ I CITY MOTOR COMPANY I Corner Washington and Greene Streets PHONE 4034 i 1 STAR SALES AND SERVICE FLINT ! •{•—HH—HH^—M!l^—nil—AmH—HH—HU-«H—Hll^—I ’ i :_IMI—IIH—IIH—IIII—ini—HH—nil—li•{• ^H—IIH^—HII^—HH^—HH^—HK—Hll^—HH^—HH^—HH^—!IH-^lli{* 1 A State Newspaper with a healthy, growing circulation—totaling now over 25,500 daily and 33,000 Sun day. |{»H«mUII*^IIH—HU^—Hll^—nil-HH—*HH^—HH^—HH^^HH^—HH^—■••{l \ J.
