WYATT TAYLOR Wtyatt is the only letter man back for this year’s varsit.y. He has had t%AO years’ experience on the squad and in him Coach I‘ark has an excellent man. Taylor is an unusual floor Avorker. an accurate jiasser, and cages the ball splendidly. “PETE” WYRICK “Pete" returns this year AAith one year’s experience on the squad. Al though he did not make his letter last season he saAv plentj' of action as for- Avard and should be in condition to go great this .vear. “Pete” is Ioav in stature but his great speed and ability to score far overshadoAv this minor point. HERMAN GARDNER Although this is “Caveman’s” first year out, the first practices have already shOAvn his ability. “Herm” is running floor guard on the first five, and is shoAving up Avonderfully Avell. CHARLES LAMBERT Charlie is .iust another man on the squad Avho has groAvn six feet. He is also ncAv to the game this year, but next season should find him playing like a veteran. .lOHN SOCKW’EIfL .luhn is another six-footer on tlie squad : in fact, he has about four inches extra. He is a forAvard Avith imusual ability to cage baskets and along Avith this great advantage he does his share of defensive Avork. “BOB” CAVENESS “Bobby” Avas a member of the squad last year and is making a good shoAv- ing this season. Bob’s speed and abil ity to shoot should be a great benefac tor to him. His ability to jump center and make a first class guard are Avell shOAvn. GORDON MATLOCK “Mat’’ is another one of those little felloAvs, but his speed and aggressive ness, coupled Avith his ability to score, make him a foi'Avard of the first rank. NED LIPSCOMB “Captain Ned” is making his first debut into basketball. His unusAial height makes him a splendid guard and his headAA'ork is a great benefit to the team. ELBERT SAMPSON “Samp” AAms on the squad for a short time last year, and Avith the use of the experience he receiA’ed he is going strong at guard this year. “Samp” has a cool head and his art in sizing uj) plays is very good. LEROY ’PACKE’r’r “'rack" is auotiier man from last yt'ar’s squad. He knoAVS the game and employs his knoAvledge Avhen he is on the floor. M'hen “Tack" takes his man he means it, and no one need Avorry that he Avon’t staj- Avith him. He has the spirit and the ability. JACK NORJIAN Jack Is out for the first time this year. He is a loAver classman and from the ability Avhich he is shoAving noAv, he Avill he a poAver on the team in the next tAA’o or three years. He has the height, and he is learning the game fast. RAY LEtYIS Ray is another of the squad’s giants, and although this is his first year at G.H.S., judging by his playing, it is not his first year on the court. COACH PARK Coach is the veteran leader of the squad, having been at its head for the past six seasons. It was under him that G. H. S. Avon its first, last, and only state championship, and although he talks little one can tell by the glint of determination in his eye that it is his sole ];)urpose at the present to again have his squad high up in the cham pionship running.
