I The world’s best Hamburgers Delicious Young Pig Barbecue If present plans go through for the night baseball game to be played here on May 7 between the Whirlwind nine and Davidson college’s freshmen aggre gation, Bob Jamieson, athletic director, and Stanley Johnson, coach of the team, should be handed bouquets (and not boo-quets) aplenty for their com bined efforts. This will inaugurate a new idea in the state high school circles, and the game should draw a large crowd of fans. So come on, you guys and gals, let’s gather around and give the local baseballers the fine sup port that they deserve Opponents take heed! This year’s ten nis team really means business, and how. With Carlyle Lewis tutormg the netters and with Ed Gehrke, Jay Shep herd, Charlie Baker and Stokes Rawlins back from last season’s strong team, the locals figure on having the fans around here sitting up and taking notice ere many moons roll around. The two iiGAV recruits, John Tate and Clyde Fields, who round out the teams cer tainly know their way around the court, too. No doubt the boys will do all right if they just don’t go too far and challenge the University of North Carolina netmen, who haven’t lost a meet since 1935 Baseball fans of this city are in for a treat today when two major league clubs clash at the stadium with the Cincinnati Reds meeting the Boston Bed Sox Pretty soon now the thud of toe against pigskin will mingle with the crack of the horsehide against the wood, as Coach Jamieson plans to issue the call for football candidates to re port for spring training maneuvers be fore long.
