Dr. Newbold plans to visit the schools as a regular part of his schedule next year. He regrets that he will not be able to spend as much time as he could in a smaller system. A major goal of Dr. Newbold is to maintain Greensboro’s high quality school system. The next decade will be critical, and he will do anything in his power to help the schools do their best. “1 want the very best persona lized education for a person of any ability,” Dr. Newbold states. He believes this can be achieved by spending more time with slow HIGH LIFE learners. Free lunches for all students is an idea Dr. Newbold would like to see carried out. Money would be saved because red tape would be eliminated and records would not have to be kept on each student. Thinking ahead, he commen ted, “I’d like to see a North Carolina school system take on a year-round school.” He forsees many public relation problems with this concept, however. Dr. Newbold believes that a good school system has got to have the home and school work ing together. This is the sector to the high quality education that he is striving toward as he takes over as Greensboro School Superinten dent. Aweekendamqnth. Alifietime of pride.
