Greensboro took the kick on the 20-yard line and went back up field for 12 yards. Three trials netted 5 yards and a puht put the ball in Charlotte’s hand on the 50-yard line. Milstead took the punt for a 40-yard run, but the referee called him back on ac count of an infraction of rules and put the ball in play on the 40-yard line. It was Greensboro’s ball on Charlotte’s 40-yard line, with it first down. Three trials got but 6 yards, but another effort moved the line up. A forward pass netted 1 yard, and two other short passes added 61-2 yards. Greensboro was then held for downs. Charlotte took the ball. Pour trials got 28 yards, and a forward pass failed. Char lotte fumbled and the ball went over. Greensboro got 5 yards in three trials, then punted a foozle for 10 yards, which Greens boro recovered for first down. After two failures, Greensboro punted 25 yards, and Millstead brought the ball back to the line of scrimmage. Here the half ended with the ball in Charlotte’s possession on Greensboro’s 40-yard line. Third quarter—Charlotte took the kick on her 20-yard line and ran the ball up 18 yards. Three trials made a first down, then Greensboro held for downs the next time and took the ball. Pour efforts failed to get 10 yards' and the ball went over. Charlotte got 10 yards in three downs. Af ter two trials at the line, a pass was tried, which Greensboro intercepted for no gain. Greensboro took 8 yards, then punted to Charlotte’s 33-yard line. Charlotte failed to make first down and the ball went over. Greensboro made first down, then failed the next time, with the ball going over. The quarter ended with the ball in Char lotte’s possession on Greensboro’s 32-yard line. Fourth quarter—Charlotte punted out of hounds on. Greensboro’s 45-yard line. Greensboro made first down in one effort. Then followed with another first down in three trials. Another effort put Greens boro in Charlotte’s 30-yard line for the first time, Greensboro fumbled and it was Charlotte’s ball on her 12-yard line. A punt put the ball on the 34-yard line. Four trials failed to net 10 yards and the ball went over. After taking 5 yards Charlotte fumbled and it was Greensboro’s ball on Charlotte’s 38-yard line. Greensboro failed on a forward pass, then came back with another trial which car ried the ball to the 25-yard line. A buck put the ball on the 20-yard line, but a for ward pass failed and the ball went over. Charlotte punted to the 40-yard line and the runner was nailed. A forward pass failed, but drove a first down. Charlotte intercepted a pass an(d ran the ball to the 38-yard line. Pour trials failed an the ball went over to Greensboro on Charlotte’s 40-yard line. Greensboro made first down. Charlotte was offside and then 4 yards were added. Here the game ended with the ball in Greensboro’s pos session when Charlotte’s 40-yard line. S. 8, WINSTON 0 Displaying a strong defense, and aided by dazzling interference Greensboro High defeated W. H. S. on Nov. 6, 8 to 0. The game was one of the best played this sea son, and G. H. S. showed remarkable im provement over previous games. G. H. S. won a well deserved victory, displaying more speed and better interfer ence. Repeated gains were made by long end runs, resulting in the only touchdown of the day. The repeated line bucks of Greensboro were thrust back as a result of Winston’s strong defensive work. In the second quarter Greensboro’s first score came after the ball had been taken by Winston with less than a foot to go. Scheldt, W^inston’s punter, dropped back to punt, but his foot did not meet the ball squarely and it went out of bounds be hind the goal line for a safety, giving G. H. S. two points. End of second quarter, G. H. S. 2, W. H. S. 0. G. H. S.’s second score came early in the second half. Winston kicked off and Greensboro carried the ball to the 30-yard line. After making 5 yards by line plung ing, Captain Hendrix carried the ball 65 yards behind beautiful interference for the lone touchdown. Greensboro kicked off to Winston and the ball was brouht back to the 20-yard line. Sapp, Winston’s L. H. B. , lay out and received a pass from Shep pard, gaining about 40 yards. G. H. S. was then penalized 15 yards, putting the ball in the 15-yard line. But as a result of a fumble G. H. S. recovered the ball and after this Greensboro was never in danger of having its goal crossed. Greensboro, by winning. Saturday’s game, made it five out of six games won this season. As a whole the entire team deserves credit for putting up such a good fight. The work of Captain Hendrix, Lewis.and Forsythe was exceptionally brilliant. For Winston, Sapp, Hooper, Logan and Lancaster were the chief stars, Sapp being Winston’s best ground gainer. G. H. S. deserved its victory more than, any it has won so far this season. ,The team was faster, the backfield charged low er and harder than its opponents. Coach York praised his team highly and was pleased with the good work of the whole squad. Referees: Noble, Auburn; umpire, Goodman, S. C.; head linesman, Jetter, S.
