S., her girls, as a whole, have enjoyed the thrill of achievement on the athletic field. The girls have entered into the spirit of the affair and had practised diligently up to the very last moment. Thursday, the twelfth,.was the memor able** day. School was in session through the third period. At two o’clock everyone from high school and many Gate City citi zens were at Cone Park to watch the girls “show off’’. The first part of the afternoon was given over entirelv to fiekl contest. 1 he classes contested in such games as volley ball, and baseball ami relay races. Different classes presented “stunts”. There was a very clever circus, a pretty dance, and an attractive take off om the teachers and the crowning of the May Queen. .All the stunts were enjoyable. The crowning feature of the day was the plaiting of the May Pole. S. .All other examinations will be given Thursday and Friday. * =)! The following account of the Alabama Track Meet was received from Tuscaloosa, Ala. Tuscaloosa, Ala., April 30th, 1921. The greatest Interscolastic Track Meet ever held in the State of Alabama came to a close to-day when Greensboro, N. C. relay team breasted the tapes a winner in the last event on the program. A crowd repor.ted to number 1500 people gave the Campus a lively appearance, and many remarked on the beautiful setting for a track meet. T'he school bo>'s reported on the field at 1 ;45 P. M. in their track togs ready for the pistol. A movie camera man was on the scene to take the pictures of the many fine young atheletes. The first fifteen minutes was given over to the cinema man, and then the starter made the welkin ring by starting the semi-finals of the Century with such men in the entry as Kirb}’, the flier from Albertville: Rush, the Meteor from Bessemer; Koenig, the Flying Tar Heel from Greensboro, N. C. In the finals of the set- to between this trio, Otis Kirby pulled up the tape a wanner the fast time of 10 2-t seconds. They have been working on the program all year and the result of their work is to be seen Friday night. .Miss Clements, the music director of the city schools, has spent two afternoons a week regularly, helping the girls and it is due largel)- to her that their public appear ances have been thus far so successful. If the program Friday night is a success, as it is sure to be, .Miss Clements w'ill deserve much of the praise. The expression class will present a pant- omine “From College Boy to Soldier”. GREENSBORO ELIMINATED BY WINSTON NINE Locals Close Season With Two Snappy Games—Win From Trinity G. H. S. vs. W. I-I. S. G. H. S. lost out in the championship series on last Friday by losing to XVinston 7-4. The game was w'ell played and strong ly contended. Both sides fighting to elimin ate the other. Johnson pitching for Win ston was very effective in the pinches and more than once left men on bases. With the exception of one bad inning. Cooper pitching for G. H. S. had the stuff.
