“When Did You Buy Your Britches,
Boys?” a rib-tickling feature story
about the imaginary origin of current
boys’ fashions by Aurelia Dunston;
“It Is for Us to Do,” Douglass Hunt’s
editorial on the responsibilities of
American youth in education; and
Solomon Kennedy’s version of the pros
pective state championship game at
Chapel ' Hill won the three-division
local .iournalisni contest held last week.
This contest sponsored by Quill and
Scroll, international honor society for
high school journalists, provides a $500
scholar.ship for national winners.
Results to Be .\nnounced in Spring
Of the total 10 entries, the class
chose the best paper under each topic
and entered them in the nation-wide
hunt for writing talent, results to be
announced through the Quill and
Scroll magazine in the spring.
In last year’s match, Barbara Bent
ley ’40 won the grand prize for the
Southeastern states for a feature,
“Baby Snooks Takes a Cen.sus of the
Censu.s Taker.”
Christmas holidays will begin next
Wednesday, December 18. After a two
weeks’ vacation, Greensboro high
school students will return to school
on January 2,
