Students To Attend
New York Meeting
Only twelve more days tmtil the
“Mg trip,” says the calendar. Mr.
Underwood and the nine students
who are going to attend the Colum
bia Scholastic Press Association
convention are making their last
minute plans for their journey to
the big city. This trip will begin
sometime during the early part of
the morning a week from next
Thursday.
Plans have been changed about
transportation. Formerly, Senior’s
representatives planned to go on a
chartered bus with Burlington High
School. But because Burlington is
sending thirty-seven students to the
convention, they notified us that they
would be able to use the entire bus.
Therefore, plans have been made to
go on the Southerner,
Hotel accommodations have been
made for the group to stay at the
Taft Hotel. The entire convention
is expected to stay at the Taft. This
convention is a national affair, and
schools from all over the United
States' will be represented there.
The convention will consume most
of the days in New York, and will
be climaxed by a banquet at the
Waldorf-Astoria on Saturday the
11th. Places of interest that the
group plan to visit are the United
Nations. Statue of Liberty, China
town, New York Times, Herald-
Ti-ibune, Empire State building,
Macy’s, several radio programs, and
possibly the Latin Quarter.
The students are looking forward
tit the tiip with much anxiety. Those
who wall attend the convention are
Rosalind Fordham, Barbara Hutton,
Rodney Harrelson, Jackie Aulbert,
Jim Beam, Richard AMiittemore,
Irene Hutchinson, Anne Lewds, and
John Utley.
Shown above, Itneeling, is Becky Squires, captain of the Jayvee Cagers,

In Los Angeles, there is always a friendly
gathering of University of Southern California
students at Ted Owen’s. And, as in colleges
everywhere, ice-cold Coca-Cola helps make
these get-to-gethers something to remember. As
a refreshing pause from the study grind, or on
a Saturday-night date—Coke belongs.
Ask for it either way ... both
trade-marks mean the same thing.
