December 15, 1950 High Life Page Three Ragtime Jubilee Is Given By Choir and Orchestra The Ragtime Jubilee, a minstrel presented by the Senior High Choir and Orchestra, was given in two performances last Thursday after noon and Friday night. This most delightful minstrel was filled to capacity with song, dance, and verse, skillfully ren dered by the Seniorites. The end men (commonly de scribed as joking darkies) kept not only the audience roaring, but the cast itself. One of the most entertaining features of this production was the “Hot Cha Opera in Z Flat Minor” (notice the key, please). With the variations of foot movement, facial expressions, and -the numerous arm-swinging hot-chas, this opera may well be said to have gone ;Over hilariously with everyone. The flappers really kept the au dience’s mouth flapping with the Varsity Drag, Black Bottom, and the Charleston. Ah! those spit curls! Bob Stigall held the audience’s attention with his strictly profes sional-like piano solo, “My Hero” from the “Chocolate Soldier.” Petite Kat Wall and Elaine Leon ard gave a fine interpretation dance to the tune of “Shortnin’ Bread,” ably aided by the singing of the choir. Ruth Hawkins added her bit of operatic genius with her rendition of “Wonderful One.” Lacy Fogleman and Jim Moser did more than justice to “Old Man River” and “Dinah,” respectively. “Make Believe” by Lane McGreg or and Paul Berry added that won- ^ «> Hall Barbers N. And the entire cast gave a marvelous performance that was appreciated and applaud ed by all GHS’ers attending. Miss Tuttle deserves a big pat on the back for the grand directing job she did to promote a success, that will remain long in the memory of the students.
