Page Eight High Life March 7, 7952 Torchlight Receives 21 Spring inductees Torchlight, Senior’s chapter of the National Honor Society, held its Spring Tapping ceremony, Feb ruary 26. Sixteen Seniors and five Juniors were selected on a basis of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character. Anne Wrenn began the ceremony by stating the aims of Torchlight, and was followed by Shay Harris, Dave Wright, Richard Ledbetter, and Carolyn Welch, who spoke on the four phases o f the perfect personality, respectively. Society Challenged The members of the Honor So ciety were then challenged to seek out those worthy of being members of Torchlight. These candidates were selected by separate ballots of the students, faculty, and finally, by the members themselves. In order to become a candidate, one must have at least a 90 average throughout his high school career. The following seniors were tap ped: Barbara Beavers, Janet Brooks, Moody Burt, John Butt, Franklin Davis, Sara Ann Hickerson, Chris tine Hill, Becky Phipps, Carolyn Royal, Emily Sowerby, Nancy Stafford, Ronnie Stanley, Doris Thompson, Rose Waynick, Mary Wiseman, and Valerie Yow. The five juniors selected were Ann Carlson, Pat Gregg, Joe Le- Bauer, Joyce Lee, and Virginia Redhead. Mims Accepts The students mentioned above were then accepted as members of Torchlight by Miss Sara Mims, faculty advisor, on behalf of the faculty. They were then given the Torchlight Oath by Anne Wrenn, president. This oath is to uphold the aims of the organization and to the entire school.
