Page Six High Life ^ay 22, 1952 Student Council Officers Installed in Assembly The new student council officers for the school year of 1952-1953 were installed by the out-going president, Bobby Clark, at an as sembly held on Thursday, May 8, 1952. The first half of the program was presented by the boys’ chorus under the direction of Bob Stigall and Fritz Apple in the absence of their director. Miss Tuttle. The new officers who were in stalled are as follows: President, Bill Greene; Vice-president, Ann Carlson; Secretary, Betty Bell; Treasurer, Bobby Jackson; Traffic Chief, Jim Kellum; Senior Class President, Jimmy Armstrong: Jun ior Class President, Barbara Mas sey; Senior Class Representatives, Mary Henri Arthur, Arthur Scott, Joe LaBaeu, Ben Nita Black, Chris Velonis, and Bob Bell; Jun ior Class Representatives. Gloria Gilmore, Kitten Barringer. Joyce Steele, Kay White, Francis Stro ther, Becky Schweistres, and Don Patterson. After the Installation of the new vice-president, the out-going vice- president, Lane McGregor deliver ed her farewell address. The student body gave her a standing ovation in recognition of the ser vice she rendered in the capacity of vice-president. Bobby Clark, the retiring president, made his final address to the student body after handing the gavel to his successor, Bill Greene. The student body honored him in the same manner and he left the stage in a round of applause, denoting the thanks of the students for his term as school leader. Smith, Superintendent of the Greensboro Public Schools, presented the Citizenship Awards! for the preceding six-weeks period ( to the following students: Lane j McGregor, Rene Zapata, P a 11 Gregg, Bill Greene, Paul Hennen, [ and Jo Lynn Jamerson. Mr. Smith i stated that it is a high honor to | be recognized by students and j teachers alike for being an out standing citizen. He said that America was founded by daring citizens, and her future depends upon future citizens of equal valor. Lane declared in her address to the student body that at the be ginning of her term the “student body was a sea of faces, but each face has become an individual that I have learned to love.” The retir ing president, Bob Clark, stated “that the Student Council had a successful year, and will have an equally successful one next year, if you, the student body, will back up Bill as you have me.” After the performance of the boys’ chorus, Doug Hall led the assembly in a song session. Mr. Johnson judged the different classes, and determined the sopho mores as the winners. The devotional period was led by Mrs. Randolph, the Bible teacher. Bobby Clark, retiring president of the student body, is shown con gratulating the newly elected president for 1952-1953, Bill Greene. After installing Ann Carlson as the new vice-president, Lane McGregor delivered her farewell address and received a standing ovation by the student body for the fine service she rendered to the school during her term as vice-president. The Junior Chamber of Com- merce sponsors the driver's class and the city of Greensboro em ploys Mr. Dixon who is the teacher for the class. Ingram Motor Company lets the class use a new Ford car for the lessons Much teaching material is needed and used, so the Kiwanls Club has given that to the class. Gas and insurance are a must. A local gas station and insurance com pany furnish us with these items The fifth and last driving course this year begins on Monday, April 28 through approximately June 10th. Because of the shorter period of time each class will be com posed of the regular four.
