English Examinations Given to Sophomores The annual Sophomore English grammer examination was given May 14, 1952. All sophomore English classes participated. The examination was based upon all the mechanics which the different teachers have taught during the year such as pronouns, verbs, spelling, correct sentence struc ture, and etc. The test is made out by the English teachers here ^t the high school each year. A group of teachers usually form a committee to make it out, but this year the test was made out by only one teacher. This examination means much to the sophomores because it counts an eighth of their final grade. After the test is taken, the teachers tabulate the grades to see how many students made in the nineties, eighties, seventies, and etc. They do this to see how the students from our school average with students from other schools. Besides the grammer examina tion, a literature examination is also given on the regular exam day. This exam is made out by the individual English teachers.
