Prissy Wyrick Outstanding
In Senior High’s Athletics
One ol Senior High’s most out
standing girls in the athletic field
Is Prissy Wyrick, a junior.
Prissy participates in all of
the varsity sports here at Senior,
her favorites being tennis, golf,
and basketball.
As a sophomore she racked up
a very impressive record in her
favorite sports. She was second
high scorer during the basketball
season with 83 points made.
Prissy remembers vividly the
State AAA playday which was in
High Point in 1955. In the soft-
ball distance throw she broke the
North Carolina State record of
168 feet by throwing the ball 174.4
feet. Although Prissy came in
second in the tennis singles, she
and Lynn Rankin marched on to
win the tennis doubles.
The positions she plays in the
different sports are varied in
deed; forward in speedball and
basketball, shortstop in softball
and number one position on the
girls’ tennis team.
Last year Prissy was asked to

become a member of the Girls’

chairman at the present.
This past summer, after playing
golf for only six weeks, she enter
ed the Carolinas Junior State
Girls’ Golf Tournament, which
took place in Burlington and got
as far as the semi-finals in the
championship flight.
Prissy’s athletic inclinations
preceded her entrance into senior
High. She was very active at Lind-
ley Junior High School where she
was on all the first string ath
letic teams. Prissy was awarded
her letter for athletics at the end
of the eighth grade which was
the first time in the history of the
school that this had happened.
She was voted the “Best Ath
lete” by her graduating class
mates at Bindley, and she also
received the trophy for being the
best athlete and a pin which
made her an honorary member
of the NKA.
Many other interests make Pris
sy an all-round girl. She plays
the clarinet in the Senior High
concert and marching bands and
is a member of the high school
orchestra.
In addition, she is vice-presi
dent of the Junior Class, vice-
president of JCL, a silver star
wearer, and a member of the
GWI social club. Last year she
was vice-president of the Sopho
more Class.
Sports, though, have laid the
groundwork for Prissy’s future,
for she plans to attend Woman’s
College where she will major in
physical education.
