Lody Glenn, assistant principal, introduced the members of the wrestling team, Burt Wilder, Jim my Harrell, Ed Meade, Tom Smith,, David Levy, Benny McKee, Louis Gunter, lx)uis Cavan, Roger English, Bill Ward, Currie Sin gletary, and Dale Johnson. A wrestling demonstrati(^n was pre sented by David Levy and Louis Cavan. The first match will be January 4. Coach Pat Earey narrated the basketball demonstration in which signals were explained and plays demonstrated. Behind the scene workers in clude the props committee, head ed by Robert Fredrickson, faculty chairman; Gilbert Frank, student chairman; and Ann Butler, Diana Evans, Allen Thomas, and Ca mille Merriman. Peyton Neal, chairman, and Robert Turner are in charge of the lighting for the pageant. Costuming will be taken care of by Miss Maunida Wales, Mrs. Nellie Kate Blackburn, and Mrs. Evelyn Stanton, faculty chairmen, with student help from Polly Young, Frances Blake, Emily Pas- chall, and Deanna Wagoner. E. and D.O. classes have recently had their annual Christmas parties. Tuesday, December 4, marked the date of the Distributive Ed ucation class party, which took place from 7:30-9:30 in the D.E. loom. Christmas decorations adorned the room, and the re freshment table was decorated appropriately in accordance with the season. Fruit, candy, hot chocolate, and cookies were serv ed at the party. The students played games, and even Santa Claus appeared, to make the par ty complete. Don Hicks, D. E. president; Mary Ann Matherly, vice-presi dent; Ellen Cole, scrapbook com piler; Barbara Taylor, secretary- treasurer; Shirley Martin, first year secretary-treasurer; and Phyllis Collins, secretary-treasur er from the Junior Class, served the refreshments. Fairfield and Mrs. Grace O’Brien, Continued on Page Nine Students Give Program To PTSA Organization Senior’s branch of the PTSA presented a program during its December 3 meeting designed to inform parents about the activ ities of departments and organi zations at Senior. Under the direction of Miss Mozelle Causey and Mrs. Mar garet Garret, the student heads of the organizations iptroduced skits, talks, and demonstrations which each group gave. Bill O’Brien as president of the Stu dent Council, the sponsoring body, narrated the program. Groups taking part in order of appearances were radio. Student Council, Key Club. Torchlight. Junior Civitan, WHIRLIGIG, Mu sic, Wheel Club, Bible Club, and D.E.-D.O. La Alianza Espanola, Junior Classical League, Los Condes, HIGH LIFE, Junior Engineers. Quill and Scroll, Future Teaches of America, Playmasters, Library Club, Stage Crew, and Speech were the others participating. Scholarship Plaques Go To Honor Rooms Miss Mildred Maddox’s senior home room 303 won first place for the second time this year with an average of 89.04; the runner- up was Miss Ellen Blackmon’s home room 102 with 88.89. In the junior home rooms, Clif ford L. Long’s home room won the scholarship plaque for the second time with an average of 87.94. Mrs. Cordelia Walke’s home room 22 made second place with an average of 86.85. Second time winner in the soph omore home rooms was Mrs. Mar tha W. Hundley’s room 24 with 85.71 as its average, and second place went to S. L. Whiteley’s room 12 with an average of 84.19. Exam Schedule Announced For First Semester^s End Examinations for the end of the first semester have been scheduled and approved by the department heads at a special meeting Tuesday, December 11. Exams run from Monday, Jan uary 21, to Wednesday, January 23. Thursday the 24 at 9 a. m. • honor roll students will register for the new semester. Friday, January 25, the remaining pupils will register in this order, seniors will register for 8:45 a. m. to 10; juniors from 10 a. m. to 11; and sophomores from 11 a. m. to 12.
