Page Six High Life March 29, 1965 hirlie ords Next year Smith Senior High School will be the third Greens boro high school in the Central 4-A conference. They will pre sent their major threat in their first year on the baseball dia mond. They have a strong defensive team and at the present are workng on their offensive attack. It will be interesting to watch the body of the school rivalry grow especially if Smith turns out some strong competitive teams. The Grimsley Junior Jaycees and Jaycettes are currently selling tickets to the Greater Greensboro Open to be held from March 29th through AprH 4th. The tickets are $12.50 for all seven days. Censored Nonsense BY BUDDY POWELL I wish students wouldn’t prac tice in the music building during the period we have TV history. It ,keeps the whole class awake. How does the Key Club get away with not having an advisor? Some of our Seniors are taking their college days to go to some rather wierd colleges eh Root, Lawrence, and Snipes. The boys in the orchestra have volunteered to paint shirts on the murals in the auditorium; however I don’t think this mod esty is necessary. We want a CONVENTION! ! ! Can we have one if we promise not to get gross? The Civinettes who wash the black boards have been missing two spots on the board in room 301. In family life we have made up a list of interesting things to do on a date. Here are a few choice suggestions: Visit the emergency room at the hospital Disect fetal pigs Learn braille Weave baskets out of bull rush es Look up dirty words in the dictionary Drop frogs from the Jefferson Building (also a game) Students Over Flu, Spring Fever Hits “Spring has sprung” and it looked as though Grimsley teens were springing all records set in the past. What records? Just that phase of the year when win ter gives way to spring and stu dents STOP being absent from school. The usual practice in previous years has been to give up the colds, flu bugs, and sore throats and dig into the spring semester, then affected with “spring fever,” but they are here. So what happened this year? The first weeks of March brought empty desks, office absentee lists five pages long, and, from those students present, the chorus of sneezing, coughing, and the rus tle of kleenex. This was the year the flu bug hit late and the cold germ ex tended its visit. Rumors that near ly 300 students were absent spread over the campus. And the clinic started compiling the long lists of the “whys,” and “whens” of all those absent. Now things are looking up though. Spring arrived last Sun day . . . absentee lists are getting smaller . . . and only the persis tent spring fever justifies the ■dreamy stares students cast out the windows. Of course, there will always be those who skip the pursuit of learning a day or two for an ap pointment in court (driver’s train ing must be getting pretty tough for those who insist on throwing their teacher through the wind shield at the sight of stop signs; an upset stomach (at the thought of the chem test); college en trance tests (assuming a lot, aren't they?); or because they are need ed at home (Herman, the family seal, needs a playmate).
