(heerteaders Chosen
On Monday, September 24, the
1973-74 Junior Varsity Cheerlead
ers were chosen. ’They are Carol
Brown, Candy Clapp, Lisa Red
mond, Emmie Pitts, Pattie Teix-
eira, Annette Gibbs,. Renie Rob

Any sophomore who wanted to
try out was eligible to do so.
On some afternoons after school,
the girls met with the Varsity
Cheerleaders, who helped them
with the different types of cheers
and jumps.
During tryouts, each girl was
required to do the cheer, take
a “V,” and an alternate one,
which was original or one they
had seen used at another school.
They also had to do three con
secutive jumps and a stunt.
Recently the girls have had
now imiforms made. Although they
remain the traditional school col
ors, blue and white, they are de
signed in a checked pattern.
Mrs. Lambert, the faculty ad
visor for the J.V. Cheerleaders,
meets with the girls and selps
direct them.

appointments being made, but
also committee chairmen are be
ing appointed. During the first
few days of office, Glenn and
Mrs Gale Lackey, student coun
cil advisor, have been discussing
the technicalities of parliamentary
procedure and setting up the
agenda for the meetings.
Pep Board and YRC have al
ready begun plans in which the
students will benefit, such as
dances, pep rallies, and intra
mural sports.
Council’s main activity in the
past weeks has been planning
for Homecoming after the High
Point Central ^ame. Alumni Com
mittee Chairwoman, Sally Al
bright, felt that the variation of
plans in this year’s Homecoming,
October 19, hopefully made this
a succesful event.
Plans for this year include
total student involvement in ac
tivities, such as school beautiful
projects. Many concerned students
feel the environmental condition
of the school needs and should
be improved. This can only be
accomplished by the students’ help
and cooperation.
Student Council is also look
ing forward to working closely
with student affairs and interclub
council.
Inter-school relations is still
another important aspect of 'an
effective student council. So far
this year Glen has already met
■with the presidents of three
other high schools. The Executive
Board of Grimsley and Page met
before the game on October 12th
to discuss ways of bettering In
ter-School relations.
Helpful suggestions will be
greatly appreciated anytime dur
ing the year.

the Girls’ Gym. The dance was
very successful with Flagstone
providing a variety of music. Most
in attendance agreed that the
dance was one of the best ever.
There was a variety of dancing
