By Cindy McCuiston Whirlie GHS. spirit shines on as students display their support for New Pep Board Gets Underway by Tish Anderson Grimsley’s 1974 Pep Board is formed. Mike Thomas is the head with junior Pam Same and sophomore Bruce Mc- Creedy assisting. The Pep Board is an active part of student council, working directly with the student body. As of now the membership is approximately eighty students and Mike said he hopes to keep it around that number. There are three main committees among the Pep Board. The first of these is the skit committee, which is responsible for thinking up, arranging, and putting on skits at the pep rallies. Greg Long is the chairman. The second is the banner commit tee, headed by Jamie MacDonald. Its Job is exactly what the name implies-mak- ing banners and decorating the halls. The third, spirit days’ committee, is headed by Kurt Kronenfeld. Compiling origi nal ideas for the days and informing the student body about them is its job. Along with these commit tees Steve Abee and Cam Ellis assist Mike at the pep rallies to promote spirit. Pep Board is just how getting into swing and should play an active role during basketball season. Pages by Page [Steve Parrot] Since the opening of the '74-’75 school year, I have received approximately 40 exchange papers. From these and others I will attempt to choose interesting and infor mative articles from which Grimsley students can learn of other schools’ work and progress, their problems and solutions, and most of all, become aware of new ideas. Any student who feels he might be interested in producing events or starting programs at Grimsley, like these at other schools, please feel free to notify me. I will work with such students in the hope that we can have new activities for this year and in the future. After years of trying to equalize athletic programs for both sexes, it appears that Page High School has come up with the ideal solution. This new installment is the co-ed gym program, which this year has been introduced to the physical education depart ment. Both boys and girls participate in such activities as football, volleyball, track. various exercices, square dancing, and more. The problem of showers has naturally arised, and, to my knowledge, no solution has developed. In addition other numerous, comical, or embarrassing problems have occurred in cluding girls lifting weight, playing offensive tackle, and faking boys out in basketball. The boys particularly were famished during the three weeks of square dancing, being beaten by 25 yards in the 220 or having cut hands from holding unshaved legs while the girls did their sit-ups. Personally, I feel Page will recover and more importantly enjoy this more liberal class they have to offer. KINARD BATTLEGROUND DRUGS 2614 BATTLEGROUND ROAD PHONE 288-3786 GREENSBORO, N. C.
