Friday, March 17, 1978 HIGH LIFE Page 7 * NOTED BRIEFLY* Both the Girls’ Softball and Soccer teams here at Grimsley have been formed and are already in practice. The girls are very nthusiastic and ready for chal lenge. These spring sports make very interesting entertainment People don’t seem to realize that :he girls in our society are just as serious about their game as are 3oys. The girls can play, fight, vin and lose just as well as the 3oys. Some even believe that the ’emale sex has a much better emper. This can be to a great idvantage in sports as well as in iaily life for its temper, or not mowing how to handle it that ;auses problems on the field, i No activities have taken place with other schools as of yet but they will begin soon. Good luck to both teams this season and I hope the girls will get as much’^upport From the students and faculty that they deserve. Remember that HIGH LIFE will bring you the full reports on ALL spring sports. The JV Basketball Team suf- ered through a very rough sea- ion this year, ending with ecord of seven wins, fourteen osses and five-seven in the lonference. Not much can be said or a losing team but there is one roint that should be very stressed joncerning the TV’s. Almost every one of the games hat the Whirlies lost was lost by ust a few points in the last juarter. We needn’t dwell on the )roblems of the past but look ihead to next year and hope that he needed improvements can be nade. Congratulations to the earn for what almost was a good reason. WHITE TAKES TITLE “It took me three years to get there, but I finally made it.” Those were the words of victure White as he became the State 122 pound Wrestling champion. “It seemed easier this time,’" said the Grimsley senior, who defeated Keith Faucett of Bur lington Cummings to take the title. “Except for my last match, 1 think the Regionals were hard er.” Grimsley’s wrestling team, which, at the time consisted of only Coaches Barbour and Col son, Victure and Scott McDonald, scored 37V2 points to clinch sixth place. The Ragsdale team became the State Champions as they scored 63 points in the two day event which involved 111 teams and 260 matches. Victure White wasn’t the only Whirlie Victor, Scott McDonald made his presence felt as he earned second runner-up in the 115 pound class, by pinning Crandall of D.H. Conley.
