(Philip Carver Photos) Prom Theme 'Always And Forever' By Steve Soltesz The combination of prom tradition together with the plush surroundings of Bryan Park helped the theme of “Always and Forever’’ come true for many Grimsley couples at prom. Bryan Park, with its modern architecture, provid ed the couples with enough room to mix and mingle as well as a spacious outside ■^eck for a breath of fresh air. Although the dance floor was small for the number of couples attending, many students improvised by making their own dancing area on the surrounding carpet. As for music, the disc jockey, Alexander Andrews, kept his audience on their feet with a variety of tunes including “Get Down On It’’ by Kool and the Gang and “Start Me Up’’ by the Rolling Stones. Several clothing trends also were seen coming back into fashion. Many of the men chose black and white tux with tails and more women wore dresses with a hoop. The couples chose a varie ty of restaurants for pre prom dining, including Giovanni’s, Franklin’s, the Kabuto, several restaurants in Winston-Salem; and a select few dined at the City Club. And finally, after the dance, many couples met at breakfasts or jointly rented a hotel room in which to wind down the evening. The 1982 Prom will be remembered “Always and Forever.” By Steve Soltesz The other day I was watch ing reruns of old Three Stooges shows when sudden ly I thought: Hey, what if they ask me, Steve Sanchez, to make a speech at gradua tion. Well, now I’ll be ready. Presented in living 3-D newsprint is my graduation speech: Fellow fish, ladies and germs, teachers. Dr. Baur, Mr. President, it is such a great honor to receive this diploma of graduation. I’d like to thank the Academy (Grimsley) and everyone (Hi, Mom) that made this pos sible. Without the academy’s aid and discipline through our adolescent years, we stu dents would be nothing but a bunch of weekend partiers who “skip” educational op .And Spam For All' portunity and hang out at fast food joints at lunchtime. Grimsley has changed my perspective on life. I now believe in the Easter Bunny, in equality for fieldmice, and that Mark Twain was the first Neanderthal to white wash a dinosaur. Some of you out there may be saying to yourselves, “Hey, what does this guy know about graduation that I don’t know?” The answer is: “nothing.” But I’m on staff and you’re not. But seriously,'the question has been asked of me, “How do I graduate?” I took it on myself to research this sub ject. My mother told me that one graduates with a cap and gown. However, my friend Keith said that he will gra- uate barely. So now I don’t know whether to graduate with or without clothes. Graduation has traditio nally been a sad time. BUNK!!! The only tears I’ll be shedding are those for the $7.50 that went toward a cap and gown. I could have spent that money on 30 Pac-man games or the new album by the Insect Surfers. Lastly, on the topic of Grimsley’s future, I think that students should, have “closed lunch” next year. When we have college break, we really don’t want you twerps crowding the restaurants and highways of our fair city. Besides, I hear that they’re serving arti choke pudding with the roast beast next year. Yumm!!! So good day and Speun for all.
