K a/m/0 k/ct/^ 0^ Carol Choe, Senior Co-Coordinator The new school year marked a time of change and transition for the Kamikazi Dance Team. Guided for years by Chi Dang who laid the foundations of the team, Kamikazi faced its first year without the woman “The leaders were dedi cated to upholding the ideals on which Kamikazi was founded - hard work, cooperation, and above all else, fun, seeking to main tain the “family” atmos phere Kamikazi has come to be known for.” who had been the driving force of the team for so long. This year, the leadership of the team was taken over by a board of six coordinators (Carol Choe and Lisa Vo) and choreogra phers (Christina Choe, Daniel Chun, Kay Ku, and Min Hyuk Lim) who faced the daunting task of filling Chi’s shoes. Despite their fears that nobody would want to be a part of Kamikazi without Chi, Kamikazi once again maintained over 30 dancers, male and female and from a variety of ethnic groups. The leaders were dedicated to upholding the ideals on which Kamikazi was founded - hard work, cooperation, and above all else, fim, seeking to maintain the “family” atmosphere Kamikazi has come to be known for. An ever-growing team, this year Kamikazi’s roster of per- brmances continued to expand. In the first semester alone, Kamikazi had 5 more performances than originally anticipated, including new on-campus performances like the Night of the Divas, which attracted a full house in the Great Hall, to more off-campus shows like the Theta Nu Xi multi-cultural show held at UNC-Greensboro. Despite the challenges faced by the loss of Chi’s guidance, Kamikazi has continued to thrive and grow based on the love and dedication of its team members.
