campus. Apart from traditional
clubs and organizations, sororities
and fraternities are truly a lifetime
commitment of lasting experi
ences. alpha Kappa Delta Phi is
the first Asian American Interest
Sorority in the south and has
recently combined with other
Greek interest groups to form
UNO’s first Greek Alliance
Council. Together, this new coun
cil unites as one diverse group
promoting various beliefs and
identities.
alpha Kappa Delta Phi was first
established at the University of
California at Berkeley in 1990
UNC-Chapel Hill in the spring of
1996. The sorority is built upon a
strong foundation of goals based on
sisterhood, scholarship, leadership,
service, and Asian Awareness in the
University and Community. It is
composed of highly motivated
women with various backgrounds,
interests, and fields of study. The
sorority provides a support group for
them in their times of need and
encourages the development of suc
cessful women.
Furthermore, alpha Kappa Delta
Phi’s national philanthropy is “Breast
Cancer Awareness” as it is a signifi
cant issue to be addressed throughout
the community. In addition, the
Adopt-a-Highway, Habitat for
Humanity, Project UNC and Relay
For Life. Also, the Office of
Greek Affairs acclaimed alpha
Kappa Delta Phi with recognitions
of having the “Highest Overall
GPA,” “ Outstanding Campus
Involvement, ” and “Chapters with
an Average of 10 or more Service
Hours” in comparison to other
Greek organizations at UNC.
In general, from its philanthropy to
social activities, from academics to
sisterhood events, alpha Kappa
Delta Phi is a diverse sisterhood of
unique women promoting countless
