Black Rep, Charlotte Rep Collaborate To Present Fences The Charlotte Reper tory Company, a pro fession while theatre in the City of Charlotte, and the North Carolina Black Repertory Com pany, a professional black theatre based in the City of Winston- Salem have formed a partnership to produce the first professional production in the State of North Carolina of the Pulitzer Prize winning broadway hit drama, FENCES, by award winning African-Ameri can playwright, August Wilson, March 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30 at 8 p.m. and March 17, 24, and 31 at 3 p.m. in the Arts Council Theatre, 610 Coliseum Drive, Winston-Salem. Directed by Larry Leon Hamlin, artistic di rector of the North Carolina Black Reper tory Company, and pro duced by Mark Woods, artistic director of the Charlotte Repertory Theatre, FENCES opened in Charlotte on February 13th to excel lent reviews. The play will continue its run in Charlotte through March 9, and will open in Win ston-Salem on March 15. FENCES, is the story of Troy Maxson, born to a sharecropper father who is faistrated by the tact that every crop took him further into debt. The father knew himself as a failure and took it out on everyone at hand, including his young son, Troy.
