Dear Dr. Love I have a hard time looking for Ms. Right! Eveiytime I find her it turns out to be bad. 1 like women to be honest & open minded. But some lie and don't tell you the real truth about themselves. They be fronting on their boyfriend or husband! A lot of them are or some are freaks or hoes. They be having sex with two people or more at the same time. That's very risky now-a-days because of AIDS! AIDS is killing a lot of people now. I am very careful about it now & I use condoms & common thinking. I just take my time, looking for the right sister! Can you tell me anything that may help me in a long run? Can you help me please? -Monogamous Dear Monogamous: First of all if you are interested in a long run, try jogging; I hear it really helps the heart! Brother Man- you must brush up on your communication skills! Maybe that's your first step to finding Ms. Right. Honesty is the best policy. If you want to receive it, you must first give it. Are you totally honest with the women that you choose to date? Furthermore, what leads you to believe that every woman you run into is a freak or hoe? You could be a freak; everyone has a little freak in them - and a hoe is a gardening tool. In addition to everything that I have said, my advice is as follows: "Remember that when you sleep with one person, you sleep with everyone they have slept with. " So what does that make you? Dear Dr. Love My girlfriend is pregnant and I don't believe its mine. I am writing from the Naval Base in San Diego California. My girlfriend lives in North Carolina and says that she is five months pregnant. I have been here for exactly five months. She has been acting very funny and I'm trying not to let her know that I don't trust her - but 1 don't Normally this ain't my style. I don't tell my business to people I don't know, but I need some answers! -JNP San Diego Dear JNP: You need to stop being so paranoid. This child just might be yours. Now you must remember that children come when they are ready. If your girlfriend has this child after the due date, don't panic. Unfortunately there's no sure-fjre way of knowing if the baby is yours unless it looks just like you. You know the saying bro - "Mamma's baby-daddy's maybe". But try to think positive. In the meantime, you should probably decide whether or not you really want to be with this female. If you don't feel you can trust her you don't need to be with her. You should also remember that being so far away from home for so long makes one a little paranoid. If you plan to many this woman then you must learn to trust her, and I wish you both much happiness! Dear Dr. Love To date, I have not had sex in 9 months, three days and 16 hours. By the time you get this letter it will have been even longer. I am going crazy. Everytime I see a man - well you can guess the rest. I'm attempting to hold out until I meet the right man, but boy it's taking a long time. What can you prescribe for a thirty year-old, sexually frustrated, lonely and disgusted woman? ~ In Need Of Some Loving Dear In Need: You've got the right one baby ■ Send all letters for Dr. Love to P.O. Box 4416 Winston-Salem, NC 27115-4416 Attn: Dr. Love Aa Hah! PAN AFRICAN IMAGERY HONORED Chamber Minority Business of the Year Annie Hairston, who retired in December of 1992 following a 36 year teaching profession, came up with an artistic idea for "life after retirement". Pan African Imagery imports authentic African Art and Artifacts from a number of countries on the African continent. Hairston started her business at home. She was eventually blessed to move into the Winston- Salem Business & Technology Center in 1993, and has definitely made a name for herself in the community since the move. Hairston was honored in Minorities and Women In Business, and was featured last year in the AC Phoenix as our Minority Business of The Month. Hairston displays her artworks at the High Point Furniture Market and one can find several of her works in area businesses around the Triad. Her exhibits have appeared at the Winston- Salem Chamber of Commerce, the Sawtooth Center for Visual Arts, the BTC, the National Black Theater Festival, the Pmehurst Resort Country Club and the Atlantic Gift Mart, to name a few. When the Phoenix featured an article on Hairston last spring, the batiking process was fully discussed. see page 18 Page 3 AC Phoenix, June/July 1994 SUPPORT BLACK BUSINESSES 3 Girls Convenience Store AAMS Transportation & Auto Repair AC Phoenix News Allstate Insurance (Mose' Belton-Brown) Alpat's Restaurant (Greensboro) A Quality Realty Company (Garland Jones) Ascott Insurance Agency Becks Temporary Services BJ's Boutique Black Pages Brown's Fish, Meat, Produce Market Brown's Oil Company Carl Smith (Wholesaler) Carolina Dreams Realty (Greensboro) Caroline Anthony (Public Accountant) Chick's Drive In Classic Cadillac (GMC Trucks) Club D'Elegance Coordinated Affairs Danville Toyota (Doreey Wiley) The Den Diamond Life Productions Dr. Pamela Dockery (Pediatrician) Doirel Productions DCU Inn (Kemersville) Dudley's Products E.
