The bride’s parents, Arthur and Linda Scales Dark, are natives of Winston-Salem. Bishop William P. DeVeaux, Presiding Prelate of the 16th Episcopal District (Caribbean District) officiated over the traditional marriage ceremony, which ended with “jumiping the broom.” The bride, formerly of Beltsville, Maryland, was previously featured in JET Magazine’s education section (1999), upon receiving her doc torate in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology In Cambridge, Mass. She is currently teaching at Spelman College. The groom, a native of East St. Louis, III., and a graduate of Jackson State University In Jackson, MS, Is a Senior Account Executive for the Federal Express Corporation. Local relatives attending the DC ceremony included the Robert Scales Family, Ronald and Pamela Grace, Mrs. Delrio Wright and Family, the Bobby Garrett’s, the Roy Bell Family of Reidsville, Augustus Dark, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Sherrod and, the Darryl Bauman’s of Laurel, MD. Ms. McKaila Faison, age 3, preceded the bride as the flower girl (granddaughter of Mr. Sumler). Jason Williamson was the ring bearer while K.J. Sherrod was the bell-ringer to officially open the reception. Ms. Wilma Sumler of Adelphia, MD, sister of the publisher, Andre M. and Jermain Sumler-Faison were also in attendance. The groom’s parents are Mrs. Evelyn McNeese of E. St. Louis, and Cleveland McNeese of Swansea, Illinois.
