The AC Phoenix February 2005 Page 17 Missionary Annie Lou Just for Laughs Well, here it is the next time “aready”. I’m still holding on here in Homeyville South Carolina. I’m still in the same frame of mind that I wuz in the last time, forgetful and mind stayed on a meal. Ha! Ha! You know this is praying time. We gotta do it. The nation is in trouble. We need the good Lord on our side. Yep, I tell ya we do. You know I thought of “dat” proverb, “It take a whole village”. All peoples have to join together in prayer and help one another. One can do one thang and another one can do another thang. It’s all good when we all come together to help. It builds a family. We’s all connected some way or another. Yep, we is. Now, in spite of all this here grieving, we still need a laugh or two. Ya know old Annie Lou, I prefers the two. Laughing is good for the Soul.. I wish married folks would just be nice to one another, and just git alone. ESPECIALLY I tried to tell this poe woman that when she told me this story. Lord have mercy, I almost fell over. This is how it went. Huh mild-mannered man was tired of being bossed around by (huh) his wife; so he went to a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist said he needed to build up his self-esteem, and so give him a book on assertiveness, which he wuz reading on the way home. He had finished the book by the time he done reached his house. The man stormed into the house and walked up to (huh) his wife. Pointing his fanger in huh face, he said, “From now on, I want you to know that I am the man of this house, and my word is the law! This is what she said, he said, I want you to prepare me a gourmet meal tonight, and when I’m finished eating my meal, I expect a sumptuous dessert afterward. Then, after dinner, you’re going to draw me my bath so I can relax. And, when I’m finished with my bath, guess who’s going to dress me and comb my hair?" “The funeral director,” said his wife. Lord, I couldn’t believe my ears. Ain’t “dat” a mess. I just smile, and said, Honey, I can’t help you. Go see “yo” Pastor. You’s a rough one! I don’t even know if that gal is a member of a church. Poe thang, she want huh own way. I hope it worked out for huh. That poe man, I guess he went back to the mind doctor. I imagine he told “dat” doctor the book was no good. It show didn’t help him. And right here at Valentine. What is he gonna do. At any rate. Please folks let’s all just git along, and try to spread love one to another. I show hope we kin. You know this too is Afrikin Amerikan Histore Mont. Let’s love and cele brate one another. Don’t forgit we must adopt the Afrikin Proverb. It takes the whole village to spread Love, Care, and Concern for one another. Let’s do just “dat” in this great Mont of Affairs of the Heart (Love) and this great Celebration of Black Historee. Gotta go, it’s time for our Prayer Meeting. I don’t miss a one. Gotta pray for “dis” here Nation, the President, Colin Powell, and all “dese” her chiirin going to fight in “dis” here war. And yes, I gotta pray for “dat” woman who come to me about huh meaness to huh husband. Wit all of “dis” goings on - only God kin!!! Hee Haw! Till the next time.
