GOV. EASLEY ATTENDED FORSYTH
TECH NEW DUILDING OPENING
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (March 2, 2006) - The Honorable Mike Easley attended
the opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for Forsyth Technical Community
College’s new Technology and Student Services Building, Thursday, March 2. The
five-story, 87,155 square-foot facility is located on the college’s Main Campus at
2100 Silas Creek Parkway.
Additional speakers included Dr. Gary M. Green, president of Forsyth Tech; Dr.
Kenneth M. Sadler, chair. Board of Trustees; Gloria D. Whisenhunt, chair. Board of
Commissioners Forsyth County;
Hilda Pinnix-Ragland, chair.
State Board of Communify
Colleges and Graham Pervier,
Forsyth County manager.
The building has 29 class
rooms and labs, four biology
labs, three lecture rooms, one
training room, a bookstore, the
student government association
office, a student vending area
and approximately 60 faculty
and staff offices. The college's
biotechnology, information tech
nology and several college
transfer programs will be housed
there. The Thomas H. Davis iTec
Center, which provides high-end
computer training for students,
parents, teachers and other area employees, is also located in the new building.
“The Technology and Student Services Building provides much-needed space for
classes and laboratories where faculty and students will address the knowledge
and skills needed for the innovation economy,’’ said Dr. Green, president of Forsyth
Tech.
Forsyth Tech’s new Technology and Student Services Building is the first new
building construction on the college's Main Campus since 1996. The cost of the
