On Rat Day
Unique Costumes Create Color
As Sophomores Dictate
For One Day
This year ratting for the freshman
class was held for only one day. It
began with the 7:30 bell yesterday
and closed with the annxial session
of rat court held in the day student
building.
Each girl was a picture as she
went about the campus wearing the
old clothes arranged for her by tlie
sophomore class. Each one wore a
stocking on her head, very dark lip
stick, ghost white powder, a dog col
lar around her neck, an apron of any
sort, a sign on her back bearing the
word RAT, and black cotton stock
ings. Every sophomore was ready
to have one of the new girls obey
some outrageous order all day.
The freshman class gave an enter
tainment in the auditorium for the
sophomores and also other members
of the student body. There was an
unusual amount of talent displayed
in this brief but amusing program.
Tlie final test will come when each
freshman has to report to rat court
at 7:30 in the day student building,
Monday. A penalty will be placed
on each girl who has in any way
resented any of the punishment which
came to them on rat day.
Mildred Sneeden of Wilmington,
{xresident of the sophomore class, was
in charge of the arrangements.
