Snoodie and Jagar went to Bennettsville for Thanks giving and then back for the week end . . . Trip has been home . • • Marguerite went home with Dot Branon . . . Jean went to the game Thanksgiving Day . . . Anne Crom- artie has been home . . • Pug went to the game in Greenville . . . then home - . . Margy went home . . . Katherine McQueen spent Thanksgiving in Rock Hill with Frances Marion . . . Took Prances Reins home with her for week-end . . . Mary King was at home for Thanksgiving ... So was Mary Katherine . . . We enjoyed it so much and are looking forward to the next one. In her honor, a special feed was given Sunday night. Many of the alumnae were present, making a merry gather ing. Margaret is from Toronto, Canada, and truly brought a breath from the North with her. On Mon day afternoon she was entertained at a tea given by the chapter. The annual pledge banquet was held Friday, November 18th, in a private dining room at Thacker s. The table was decorated with sorority colors of red, buff, and green. Norma, Humphries, pledge president, was toastmistress and gave the pledge toasts. Virginia Duncan responded for the active members. Miss Whar ton, faculty adviser, made a short speech. During the rest of the even ing songs were sung, and Kitty Sue Harvin recited an original poem writ ten by Lela Hughes. Kay Duncan spent the week-end in Cowpens with Frances Allgood. Annie Laurie Anderson went home last week-end, while Jebbie Rose Clark’s father visited her here Satur day. This week of Thanksgiving we’re going to be different and mention those girls who won’t be going home: Virginia and Kay Duncan, Sara Raney, Eleanor, Vicky, and Libby Gale. Some of them will be off cam pus for the week-end but they are the ones who will “eat their turkey” at school. Yvonne went home for Thanksgiving Sally went home . . . Miss Rob inson gave a beautiful recital after the formal dinner and we were quite proud of her . . . We are all so sorry that Helen is ill the hospital due to a wreck last week. This would happen right after she gave such a grand performance in the Little Theatre play. Hurry and get well, Helen, and then we will celebrate. Everyone is terribly excited over Thanksgiving and wonderful plans liave been made for the short holiday. It seems that many of the girls afe attending the Davidson-Wake Forest game which will be here on Thanks giving Day. Billie Harmon is going with Bob; Lib Sommerville, Betsy Springer, Mary G., Margaret and Dot Duckett will also be there in full full swing. Confidentially, Dot will be sitting on the Wake Forest side. According to the frequent visits which Mike makes home the ole home town still has a great deal of attraction. And he came in Wednesday night heading straight for Annette’s. Mimi and Ruth spent Thanksgiving at Gene Hosmer’s, and Mitty with Betty. Libba had her turkey in Monroe with Hilda. Among those who journeyed homeward were Betty Kale, Mimi, Ann, Helen, Mary Gilmer, Flowe, Jane, Billie, Lucy, and Alene. Julia and Rush are planning a big week end because he will be here four whole days! Marjorie was excited the other day about a heavy date on Wednesday night. Mimi took Caroline and Mildred home with her for the week-end and entertained for them on Saturday night. You kissed and told But that’s all right. The man you told Called up last night. However Carolyn Sibley was forced to spend her time in bed, as she was operated on for appendici- tus last week-end. She is reported to be recuperating rapidly. Frances Stough, Sara Kelly Lil- lard, and Mary Payne took in the two dances and the game at Clem- son on Thanksgiving. Franny is now spending the week-end in Cornelius with her family. The Lillard-Sager wedding last Saturday drew quite a bunch from here. Two of our alums spent part of the week-end here at school and went to Elkin for the wedding. They were Mary Currie and Lib Mayard. Sally Crosland left Wednesday to spend the holiday in Bennettsville, and Peggy Williams has joined her there for the remainder of the week end. Grayce Hackney visited in McBee, S. C., last week-end and left Wednes day for her home in Lake* City, Fla., for a long week-end. Ann Purnell is among the girls who will act as sponsors for the White and Black Ball to be given by the Bachelors Club. Dot Meyers spent Thanksgiving Day in Charlotte with relatives. She is spending this week-end in Ashe ville. Dot Brannon had as her guests Thursday her mother and his sister, Ann. She returned with them to Georgia Friday for the week-end. Helen Cumnock is spending this week-end at her home in Davidson. She also spent Thanksgiving Day tliere. Virginia Hickman and Pan Peyton spent Thanksgiving in Davidson. Have to get Spoon to tell me about her and Irvin in that wedding Thursday in Burlington . . . Expect Gigi and Martha and Hope and Nancy would do better jobs of telling me how it really looked . . . Mr. and Mrs. Brandon were here last week-end . . . That ole Lil Smith girl was here last week-end with Jane Wiley—Jane brought her out to feed and the roof almost went off the house when they walked in . . . Frances S’s cold is much better but she’s still talking about chaperoning a group out to an Arkansas ranch to cure it (do they have ranches in Arkansas?) . . . Does anyone know where Stony Point is? (Who asked that anyway?) . . . Peggie and Tiny were sponsors for the Wake Forest-Davidson game . . . Karl writes poems, but he won’t show them to Peggy, wonder why. . . Mary Lou had a friend from Washington visit ing her not long ago . . . Julia says she likes Burlington “not a little bit” . . . Hope went to dinner but- with the Brandons last Saturday . . . Mary Lib had on the prettiest (?) hat at feed last week . . . Sample surely was working industriously on that research paper this week—hope it came out all right . . . Pease is going to see one of her good friends in Scarsdale, N. Y., this week-end . . . Nancy Walker is recuperating from a sudden appendectomy.
